Modern buses are surely ones you can still buy new which would include types such as Enviros, Gemini's,  E200/300,  Solos but not Plaxton Presidents and ALX400's which are no longer available.

Buses are part of cities identity and like Birmingham Central it's unfortunate that National Express only retained a local identity in Coventry, albeit I would have preferred something based on 4453.

I would argue that where Arriva, Stagecoach and First dominate, which let's face it is many major cities in the UK, neither the generic bus liveries nor the generic bus types are characteristic of a city anymore. Wherever you go the buses look the same. There was definitely a lot more character years back, with the differing liveries, and even buses that weren't exclusive to a particular region often looked very different in various parts of the country due e.g. to unique number and destination layouts. These days, you've seen one E400 or Wright Gemini you've seen them all. I'm glad that in my days of being an enthusiast there was a whole lot more to be enthusiastic about.

Tony, I thought 3 vehicle types would be eliminated with this years deliveries?
Short E200s have seen off Solos and I assume the WB Darts by the end of this month
Long E200s based on the locations would see of remaining WB, PL and WA B6s
So what has changed?

And there are now no Merc Varios in use with 241 taken out the training fleet

Is 241 now to be regarded as 'withdrawn' ?

Has the preservation attempt been successful?

4370 might be repainted once they decide on removing the all-over advert. It might happen!

If anything I'd say 4370 will probably be one of the last buses to be repainted as it hasn't had that advert for more than 2 months, usually they seem to keep them on for around 12 months, although I guess different companies have different contracts so it might not stay on for that long.

The Real 4778

Will the O405Ns survive the visit of the last decker to the paintshop....?  Suppose their MOT dates are the clincher.
Don't you start.
