That very low bridge on the 27. The 28 can manage deckers but doesn't need them

Are you trying to create an open top fleet? Definately cannot have deckers on the 28!

Yes you can!!

Under a 13ft bridge?

You divert it as always was down south road! Problem solved!

Have you been down South Road lately? Do you know why it was taken off South Road? I think you will find the service would soon grind to a halt with two buses facing each other with no-where to go

You obviously have then haven't you tony cause you've been everywhere and you know everything, don't you tony!!

Yes I drove fleetlines on the 28 often enough from Washwood Heath garage down South Road and now that with parked cars both sides of the road there was no passing point for buses even in the 1980s and you used to dread entering it from Reservoir Road and seeing a bus come around the corner from the other end. And yes, that IS the reason NXWM removed the service from that road because buses were having to reverse!

I remember this happening all to often. The other plus side about missing South Road (from a passenger view) is a faster journey time due to missing out the traffic around Six Ways.

Can I ask, why do the Enviro400's (standard ones) get slated so much.. are they really that bad?

Public transport - the veins it flows by.

To be honest I wasn't aware of too much slating going on, only really seen one negative comment on this entire forum saying that they are too easy to drive (is that a negative really) and a bit dull, in my opinion they are the best deckers you can order, well built, fairly comfortable and look pretty modern and NXWM seem to think so too, with any new Decker orders being for the Enviro whereas in the past they have looked at other manufacturers and buses

registrations for 4895 to 4903 now on main site!

The Real 4778

Some livery points.  Connecting bars completely abandoned, new typeface numbers on the corner instead of above the front wheels.  Clean (for now) but plain.
Don't you start.

The connecting bars have been gone for a while now. And I believe the new type face is standard now too. Can't agree more about the plain point though.

Yes all repainted PN Enviros (4800/01/02/05/06/07/08/17/22/27/28) have no connection bars

Looks like 4879 will be the last new decker with the (silly) mini-bars.  An embarrassing throwback to an expensively complex (and slightly bizarre) livery experiment.

I thought the connection bars added something (albeit slightly) to a somewhat dull and unimpressive livery.

Must admit the Tridents that don't have either version of the bars, where they placed the fleetname, made it look slightly off centre!

I completely agree!

What we've got now is basically the colours of the St George's Cross flag!  As NatEx have recently won a couple of rail franchises in Germany, it made me wonder if it wasn't a patriotic thing - done by stealth!

So why exactly did they stop putting the connector bars on refurbs etc??

I read somewhere that the full-fat connecting bars as per the original new livery were expensive to apply and difficult to keep in decent shape with local paint touch-up or panel damage.

The mini-bars were part of the corporate name decal so why they dropped that is a mystery.  The bars didn't go anywhere though, and as such looked unfinished, like an afterthought.  Someone in the marketing department probably said 'get rid.'
