97 finally extended?

I Would call 20 mins frequent & alongside 966 it would make a 10/15 Min Headway from Chelmsley Wood

But that's only from Chelmsley Wood, where there already is a link anyway - the 966. I thought the point of this was a frequent direct link to lots of areas of East Birmingham, so I think even a 20 minute frequency would just make people prefer the train. I know it would mean a few extra buses but if I was NXWM I'd extend all journeys to the airport.

And on a side note, this must explain why they've been holding off on branding a load of Tridents for the 97 to Chelmsley Wood.  8)

My point is though if you have one service that is every 30 mins and one every 20. You cannot make a uniformed frequency between the two routes. 10/15/5 i don't think that would work. with the 5 journeys an hour. You are certainly not going to get them to become every 12 mins Airport to chelmsley.

Thinking about it... it's likely the 97 will be every 30 minutes to the Airport during the day as the Sunday frequency is every 20 mins ::)

I would keep the 8 minute frequency between B'Ham & C'Wood then every 20 minutes to the airport, because with service 966 that would make an every 10 minute frequency to an From Birmingham Airport  :D

please tell us how you have an 8 minute as far as Chelmsley Wood, then 20 to the airport? 20 is not dividable by 8

Not quite, it is a mix of 9 and 10 minute gaps at the moment

but isnt the 966 Every 30 Mins not 20?

also to get 8 mins with 20 min extention - do something arriva shires does & mess around with the layover times at chelmsley wood to give a 20 min service to airport

This is the one thing that has always intrigued me, most major city airports I can think of have regular bus services to various nearby places, and what what ive seen at least in Manchester and Liverpool those bus services are very well used. And yet Birmingham airport only has a handful of not very frequent routes, even more surprising to me considering the NEC is there aswell. Was the 58 ever a frequent route all the way to the airport?

well around here,Leeds Bradford Airport isnt very well connected when you think about it,Theres 2 buses an hour to bradford (via different routes) Every 30 Mins To Leeds,Every 60 Mins To Harrogate,Every 30 Mins To Otley & Menston.

Anyway,ive done a timetable for the 97 if they did every 8 Mins to Chelmsley Wood then 20 onto the airport but it does give Helmswood Dr a 17/15/8/20 Frequency but maybe if its profitable enough add extra Helmswood Dr - Pine Sq Shorts using 1 extra bus

Layover for a running service in Birmingham, i don't think people would go for that in my view.

The 97 is much more frequent than every 8 or 10 minutes. It's advertised as every 4.
