So green bus now doing private hire with cabs as well as buses will
they b put into green bus livery

No! They're to be used where required, mainly to transport drivers to and from the city centre to save money on nBus/metro tickets.

I understood there was an understanding between bus companies that drivers were allowed to travel for free. For example, NXWM drivers regularly travel on Diamond route 42A/C, 43 to / from Depot and 4H to / from Oldbury. Diamond drivers travel for free on the Metro and I've seen NXWM drivers get on the Green Bus 22 in / out of Merry Hill for free. So why are TGB drivers having to pay on NX buses and Metro, even if not in uniform just show their pass.

No, there is no such formal understanding, just drivers being friendly with each other

Saw a Walsall based driver, who must live near me in Leamore, getting on a Diamond 301 from the Green Lane stop.
(It wasn't Mr Thacker by the way. He now lives abroad!)

Technically I suppose the 22 isn't a route change, but the timetable's certainly new. Hopefully with Diamond (I hear) pulling off the 50, TGB's will be a real contender for NX with the improved frequency from next Monday

And they are withdrawing the Wythall extension. Any idea what the improved frequency will be?

From WCC Website:

6th July 2014

Service 50 (Green Bus) Wythall–Maypole-Birmingham
This commercial service will be withdrawn from Worcestershire and will only operate between
the Maypole and Birmingham City Centre. The only journeys in Worcestershire will operate
to/from Woodrush High School as Services 50X and 50Y
or a journey on Service 50 until the 18thJuly 2014.Services X50 and 150, operated by Johnsons, will be unchanged

TGB 50 is still running through to Wythall in the peaks today.
