If the 24 hr running of the 97 to the airport proves successful, the 900 may well be next?

is there much chance of it being a success? Maybe Fridays and Saturdays, but who will want to travel to the airport at 3am in the morning.

They don't allow night flights at BHI do they?
Pensnett is my local garage. Favourite bus of all time is Fleetline 6360 (KON 360P).

Workers have to be there at 3am, ready for preparing for 6am flights. Three hour check ins now on a lot of flights

Er, people working at the Airport / NEC for a start ??

& yes, BHX isnormally a 24 hour operation.

3AM starts and, I'd assume, equally late finishes

I think its a great idea, and knowing people that have early starts in the airport it will be a huge benefit. I just worry that the variety of terminus points will really confuse people.

So it's confirmed, Birmingham has it's first 7 day a week night bus service in many a year!

Agreed. I'm surprised the (97)'A' suffix isn't being retained for the Airport variant.

Will the Chelmsley Wood - Birmingham variant of the 97 be classed as '97E'?

No. The centro website has a whole section about it.

Journeys that operate from Birmingham city centre only as far as Chelmsley Wood interchange (without looping around and back) will probably show as 97E on the display.
My locals:
2 - Birmingham to Maypole | 3 - Birmingham to Yardley Wood
11A/C - Birmingham Outer Circle | 27 - Yardley Wood to Frankley
76 - Solihull to Northfield | 169 - Solihull to Kings Heath

Yeah, I was referring to the Chelmsley Wood loop workings. Thanks Stu

Do we think the enviro400 with 97 branding on NXWM's website is a clue as to where some of this year's intake of enviro400's is going??

To date though theyve never promoted a route with a bus that is branded that does not run on that route-still I may be proven wrong although I think it would be highly unlikely for NXWM to put old tridents on what will now be a flagship, long, 24hr route. I imagine they will put new buses on it
