Quote from: ellspurs on June 21, 2024, 11:04:29 PMI remember when, during the warm weather, the driver would just drive down the road with the doors open so a cool draught was pushed through the bus.
Some Indpedents still did that like 5 years ago Sandwell Travel and Thandi occasionally.

Diamond have done it before too. I remember catching a Chaserider too back in 2021 that was too.

Go back even further to the really good old days Midland Red S6's to probably S15's doors open conductor standing on the steps talking to the driver, the HSE wokies would have had a field day.

They'd have heart attacks en masse.
Don't judge me until you've walked in my size ten shoes.

Buses need to enter the 21st century and offer air con as standard. Drivers deciding to drive with doors open shows how miserable buses are in summer.

CHANGES TO STAFFORD SERVICES

Service 10: Stafford – Kingston Hill
Service will be withdrawn and replaced by a diversion on selected journeys on service 841.

Service 74: Cannock – Huntington - Stafford
Service will operate via the normal route on all journeys from Cannock towards Stafford. From Stafford towards Cannock buses will operate non-stop from The Sun (Lichfield Road) to Pottal Pool roundabout. We regret there will be no southbound stops on service 74 through Queensville, Weeping Cross, Wildwood, Brocton and Bednal Head. Service 826 will provide an alternative service from Stafford to
Weeping Cross, Wildwood and Brocton.
There will be no southbound buses serving stops between Brocton and Pottal Pool.

Service 826: Rugeley – Milford - Stafford
Service 826 will be curtailed to run between Stafford and Rugeley only. A revised timetable on service 828 will continue to run between Stafford, Rugeley and Lichfield every 30 minutes. Buses on service 826 from Stafford towards Rugeley will divert via Tixall Road and Holdiford Road between Stafford and Milford, then will operate in a loop via Baswich, Wildwood and Brocton back to Milford before continuing to Rugeley.
Buses from Rugeley towards Stafford will continue to operate via Baswich and Queensville between Milford and Stafford. Buses on service 826 will no longer operate via the Springfields estate in Rugeley.

Service 828: Lichfield – Rugeley – Stafford County Hospital - Stafford
Increased to run every 30 minutes between Stafford, County Hospital, The Haywoods,
Springfields, Rugeley, Brereton, Handsacre and Lichfield.

Service 841: Uttoxeter – Weston - Stafford
Minor timetable changes. Weekday morning journeys from Stafford terminating at
County Hospital will be withdrawn and replaced by new journeys on service 828. Buses will no longer operate via Hydrant Way, Tixall Road and Blackheath Lane. One weekday journey in each direction will divert via Hydrant Way, Tixall Road and Cull Avenue instead of via County Hospital to replace service 10.

74, 826 & 828 will no longer interwork from the 1st July!

The 826 route down Holdiford Road to Milford will be interesting with a narrow humpback bridge over the canal and then a narrow bridge over the River Trent.  I understand that traffic lights will be operating on the bridges.

i have taken full size coaches through there to access ingestry hall in the past as the bridge in is too low at Gt Haywood for some coaches to pass under - so their solo will be a doddle  :azn:

I assume some of the above is only during roadworks - Chaserider's website isn't clear either but their facebook page suggests until 28th July.

The signage around the Weeping Cross area refers to 17 weeks of delays so not sure why Chaserider have referred to end of July.
