Hi, I've just applied to work for BC garage, as a new driver do you get to choose what routes you'd prefer to do? Or is that chosen for you.

Chosen for you but you can put in a request to change rota/routes, at least that's how it was when I was at NX.

Before you start driving on your own, get signed off on as many routes as possible. When I was at AG, I was usually on the 11 but was signed off on all other routes bar the 71/72/966 at the time. It meant I drove a variety of services.

It gets chosen for you, I'm currently signed off on the 60/97 but going to try and get a permit for the X12/X13 and X1/X2 services

So if I was to start and tell them I already know routes 94/95 and X12/X13 does it mean I'll get them or will i have to learn more routes!

All depends whether there's space on the 94/95 or X12/X13 rota

You still have to do the route learning and be signed off on the routes and also if there is space on the rota for you to go into but most likely you will be put on the 45/47 or the 60 service to begin with

As I said, get signed off on as many routes as you can. You can even mention to your DTO the routes you know. I did that at AG and was told just to spend a trip on each route rather than full days. They will only justify spending the expense of having you route training for a certain amount of days so get signed off on as much as you can.

It doesn't matter about rotas etc as there'll always be days where certain other drivers only know certain routes which will give the company flexibility to move you around as and when. There'll also be a greater variety of overtime opportunities for you, even if you spend the majority of time on one or two services.

Incidently 4916 is missing because it is the same as 6875. Both received heavy rear end RTCs from other vehicles driving into them stationary which causes probably the most damage of any RTC

It depends on the capacity of the rota, I know X12/X13 rota does have some lines on there. But could be all gone by the time you get here at BC.

Unusually high numbers of non-Platinums on the 23/24 today, including 97 branded 4469 and several 4900s, 4921 and 4936 among them.

4620 and a NXC liveried Enviro were on the X14 as well, which is usually solid platinums

Any more rumours where these 2 new replacement depots are going to be located , I read somewhere the are both going to hold up to 150 buses which represents an expansion on the current bc allocation?
