I was on 6865 on the 23 this evening which was doing the full route to Bartley Green but got adjusted part way through the journey and was a 23E California when I got off (23/24 badly affected today by roadworks on Harborne Road). Is it normal to adjust journeys part way along the route? There was nothing to inform passengers it was now a short working so I suspect a lot would have been turfed off early (there was another bus just in front).

The driver may have ran out of hours or something.
Probably another bus behind. I'm fairly sure that it is normal especially when there are mass delays being caused by roadworks and temporary lights.
Tracking suggests 6866 running shortly behind

QuoteM42 works chaos. 105 minutes Meriden - Yardley (75 minutes Birmingham Airport - old terminal) yesterday, which was nice...
Warwick road in Tyseley is a mess too, nearly a hour of Waiting and when the lights go green, oh there's still cars coming from the other side

It is normal to be adjusted half way through a journey especially if the journey you are on is significantly late, if a driver is running short on drive time then we have to radio our garage under the road traffic act and we get adjusted accordingly. I have had it on the 60 service where I was running up against my drive hours and was told to terminate service early and run back to city out of service

In these kinds of situations, this is where the next-stop announcements would become really useful.

I recall many years ago now, I'd been visiting my brother who lived in London at the time, and due to the Overground being partially closed, I had to get the 30 bus all the way from Hackney Wick to Euston station.
While it seemed to depart on time (the bus had been waiting at the terminus when I got it) and there didn't seem much in the way of traffic delays, about halfway through the journey the audio/visual announcement changed from "30 to Marble Arch" to "30 to Warren Street". It did change a couple of other times, and I had to check if it was going to get me to Euston.

Now this - as far as I am aware - doesn't happen on NX buses, and I think it would be helpful if it did, often passengers aren't aware that a service is being terminated short until the driver asks everyone to get off.
My locals:
2 - Birmingham to Maypole | 3 - Birmingham to Yardley Wood
11A/C - Birmingham Outer Circle | 27 - Yardley Wood to Frankley
76 - Solihull to Northfield | 169 - Solihull to Kings Heath

Is this a trial or is the X1 service moving to CV?

The X1 will need to go electric at some point to meet Coventry Electric city rules, with electrics available waiting for more chargers to be commissioned at Coventry this is the best time to see the energy consumption on the route so that the schedules can be written accordingly.

This happened again tonight. Temporary lights by the White Swan are still there and are now compounded by 4 way temporary lights at the Harborne swimming baths stop, so the 23 and 24 are absolutely screwed at the moment (4 23s and 3 24s within a couple of minutes of each other from city this evening). Was on 6876 which was supposed to be doing the full route, but driver got adjusted, saying he'd exceeded his hours and was turfed off at Harborne baths onto 6879 behind.

Incidentally, does anyone else always feel like, when buses are running in convoy, they manage to end up on this bus that seems to amble along when other buses go sailing past like they're been driven by Lewis Hamilton (like 6841 which left us and another 23 in its wake)?

Did E160 fail today as the 11:40 tom Coventry didn't run.

E092 turned up instead running 20minutes late

No. It was a deliberate swap. E092 will also do the duty tomorrow

Both 6948 and 6825 heading back to garage this evening instead of doing 17:00 and 17:20 outbound trips.

I thought the driver shortages was being sorted?

Also each time I've see this happen (which is concerning to say in itself), the outbound X21s seem to be affected only and the X22s run fine.
Local Routes: 002, 39/39A, X21, 46, 76.
Localish Routes: 18, 23, X22.
