For what ever reason that 1642 went to WA, it is on the 276 tonight, couldn't see if it had been repainted or not.

Yes you beat me to it Stu, it's been on the 276 all day, no repaint or refurb, or any noticeable external change.

827 & 830 are both still parked up out of use in the yard

1540 & 1541 have both gone from PE's yard, either out in service or more likely to join the reserve fleet

sadly i fear they have gone to Miller Street.
Pensnett is my local garage. Favourite bus of all time is Fleetline 6360 (KON 360P).

I think PE need more double deckers for routes like X96,140,241 because 9 times out of 10 they are always packed up with passengers and a few people standing up.
Buses near me are the 4M,24,89,140,205,205E,208,241,289
                          Rowley Regis

Thats the plan. The Tridents will be used on the X96/276 and busy 140/241 journeys with some mercs withdrawn

4823 running 23 minutes late on the 9 tonight, meaning there is a gap of almost an hour between buses. Was surprised it did a full 9 to the city centre and wasn't turned around at Five Ways.

suppose it could have been turned at Five Ways, problem is that passengers in city would not have a service for an hour. Typical it had to be 4823.

9 Been playing up all day, waited in
Halesowen for ages & then 4819, 4199 & 2154 all arrived in 2 minutes.

It makes me wonder how NE decide which buses to withdraw.

1540 & 1541 are in the more modern NE livery, surely buses like 1633, 1638, 1646 etc should have been withdrawn first. I also would have thought that they could have been parked on the car park in case PE get a catostrophic failure (fire) on one of its other Mercs.

My only guess is it is literally which buses MOT or something is due to expire next, as I was on 1540 just days before it left service and it was fantastic, very few rattles, sounded and pulled great! One of the better Mercs, but then that is purely from a passengers viewpoint, for all I know the chassis could be rusted to pieces etc..

1633 has been internally refurbished since new though so that's a keeper but 1632 is a right mess so there are like you say better withdrawal candidates from PE

The older Mercs (1515-1627 and 1743) are not DDA compliant as they have no inbuilt wheelchair ramp, whereas the younger Mercs (1628-1707) have an inbuilt ramp so are compliant. This is the reason behind the withdrawal of the older Mercs first, despite many having a better appearance and in seemingly better mechanical condition.

Ex pensnett driver

2 more Yardley tridents arrived tonight didnt catch fleet numbers
