Since when has the 9 been only a half hour frequency at night! I know it was made 30 mins on Sunday nights a while ago and i can understand that, but weeknights, don't think it has been half hourly since Birmingham to Stourbridge was operated by the 130.

From the 21:20 departure from Stourbridge onwards it is every 30 minutes - 21:20, 21:50, 22:20, 22:50, 23:20, 23:45 (last one runs 5 minutes earlier)

Exactly Stu. I think it should be 20 minutes evenings and 15 mins on Sunday

Alot of other popular services such as the 51 and 74 both have an evening 20 minutes frequency but I guess due to so many buses going down the Hagley Road and you have the 141 to Halesowen the frequency doesn't need to be increased.

The 51 is every 30 minutes in the evening, isn't it? Around the same time the 9 turns every 30, at least

Yeah your right and so is the 74 it just when i looked at the frequency for both routes it says every 20 minutes (should say every 30 mins) from 18:00 onwards so a bit misleading to anyone looking the services up.

The 9 & 141 tend to be busy up to Quinton in the evenings. It can be packed leaving Colmore Row and virtually empty from Quinton.  In the old days buses used to turn at Jeffersons (now the Harvester) or at Quinton Church much more often.

You have busy services such as the 9 and 51 running 20/30 minutes during evenings then you have local routes like the 59 running every 12! But saying that as stated previously both the 9 (Hagley Rd),51 (A34-Walsall Rd) and 74 (Soho Rd) are all served by other services creating a higher frequency along those corridors. As a regular user of the 59 even i say it only jusifys a 15-20 minute evening frequency. The Sunday frequency of the 9 should be around every 15 minutes and fully 20 minutes during evenings instead of turning to half hourly

Rob is right, the huge loadings come from Colmore Row and Broad Street and most passengers have alighted by Halesowen. Not to say the Halesowen - Stourbridge part is empty though, going towards Stourbridge the loadings are respectable (although 824 could comfortably manage that part!)

The 4/4M is every half hour after around 20:30 hours and would think being such an important link between Walsall and Blackheath/Merry Hill it could be every 20 minutes or possibly every 15 minutes using the 4/4M like it does on a sunday as often the evening buses get quite busy so normally running a couple of minutes behind. Sounds strange I wonder if the 4/4H/4M could be operated by Pensnett I know it wouldn't be but may be driver changes could occur at Halesowen and Merry Hill when the bus did it turn on either of those routes then you would get the odd merc appear so would be a bonus or at least Pensnett operate may be the 4M on sundays for example using tridents or enviro 400's.

The 9 is a fitted service of 15 minutes to quinton with the 140 and 141. On top of that there are 5 buses an hour on the 120 and 126. In total there are 9 buses per hour in the late evening up to bearwood along the Hagley road.

How about keeping daytime 4/4M/4H service operated by Walsall, but have evening & Sunday service on the 4/4M operated by Pensnett? Use running boards in the evening which finish their own routes early, so no need to accommodate extra buses. Deckers could potentially be used as there obviously isn't the low bridge issue going back to the garage.
