Or 4813 has just gone out of service matt? At least it was performing better than 4609 which was struggling up hills on the 27A

I was joking

If it's still out it should do the 21:30 from Colmore Row, then out of service at Stourbridge. Will try and intercept it on its way back to Stourbridge, would've just gone past my stop but didn't see anything

Don't get yourself stuck in Stourbridge again Matt!!

How will he get himself stuck? There are plenty more 9's after 824!

Will probably do the 22:40 142 from Stourbridge back.

About to head out now so wish me luck! ;D

I didnt think a 222 journey would work a Birmingham route after thinking the whole 222 situation through  ;D regarding branded buses, size of the buses etc etc, but I'm sure a double  could have been off the 246 and 824 put on the 246 ?

Maybe, but the 246 can get rather packed as well.

Ive never been around at Peak times to see the 246 loads just in the daytime hence why I said take a bus of the 246.

1645 left Dudley jam-packed this morning on the 246

Also just to add 1516 has been on there today and still is this evening

Matt, You were joking so why did you use a :( icon

Unidentified B7 on the 222 just passed The Waterloo PH, Mill Street

All opinions and onions mentioned on here are mine and not those of any employer, current, past, present or future, or presented as fact, unless I prove it otherwise.

So 1642,824,4802 now a B7RLE on the 222 today/tonight. 824 as stated switched to the less suitable route for a midi bus (Route 9)

wilmotm (Matt Wilmot)

Bit of a mad old day in PE world again then!

I always think whenever I go past the garage, whilst the peak 9 workings are out in particular how few spare buses that are actually fit for service are hanging around the place, in fact I don't think I have ever seen a B7RLE parked during the day at PE, either as a spare or for maintenance and I'm sure someone said the same about WN's, I think so far they are proving themselves to be very reliable indeed

WN do have B7RLE's in the garage spare. Regually take up the peak board on the 59 which comes from Park Lane around about 15:10

The problem with PE is that it's main spare bus, especially in peak time is the Merc which is obviously not suitable for services into birmingham, which is obviously why they decided to use 824 for the 9.
Probably putting the e200 on the 9 was better than doing a double swap and  putting 824 on the 141 to get an enviro or b7Rle for the 9.

Even so, with reduced Pvr's due to the summer timetable, plus they now have extra deckers in the shape of Tridents, putting the smallest bus type they have on the 9 wasn't a very good move

What i don't get is that 824 wasn't really spare as it was on the 222 1 and a half hours earlier

This is what confuses me, because to get to stourbridge from merry hill it would have needed a driver, unless they had a spare driver at merry hill! there must have been logic in it somewhat?
