Quoteso it will be wrecked before it even gets to Birmingham
I'm sure reading doesn't have passengers who have nothing else to do but damage and vandalise buses compared to Birmingham

Please see my report that it won't be carrying passengers, so won't get damaged.

So what is it there for? Driver familiarisation?

Would seem likely. They have 24 Enviro400EVs on order.

This is the quote from the Reading Buses staff bulletin

"A demonstration vehicle from Alexander Dennis arrived this week to allow us
to start training our engineers on the new systems, and the Academy team so
that they can develop the training plan for the wider driving team.
It is the same Alexander Dennis Enviro400EV that we are expecting to start
arriving next month, but to National Express West Midlands specification
which means that there are a few cosmetic and layout differences. However,
the core principles about the electrical layout and driving style will be the
same.
We will not be able to use it in service because we can't easily fit our ticket
machines and next stop information system.
The official launch for the buses is booked for 6 August. We are hoping that
everything will be ready for the buses to enter service after that. Most driver
training will probably take place in the 6 weeks running up to that."

Reading may as well keep it. Don't see NXWM, or any other service provider, acquiring any new vehicles pending clarification of the proposed franchising arrangements.

I don't think we'll be getting any clarification of anything anytime soon. At the moment it's just a soundbite. 'Taking back control'

Why, NX lease buses, they don't buy them

But that's not clarification of how it will all work. As I said it's all currently just a soundbite.
