For WN and PE, the preference of using B7RLEs over Mercs on Sunday is probably down to the simple fact that B7RLEs are cheaper to run, being more fuel-efficient (and arguably more reliable too).

Same goes at AG also, where B7RLEs are used on the 1 on Sunday over Presidents (also the passenger loadings don't really justify doubles on that route also on Sundays).

WB use their Mercs on Sundays, simply because they don't have any other choice.
My locals:

NX Coventry are seemingly no longer going to use Mercs on Sundays as they've just posted the following on their Facebook page.....

On Sundays you may see buses on your route with branding for a different one. We are using our buses as efficiently as we can and this means that we will use our buses with the lowest emissions whenever possible.
During weekdays and Saturdays branded buses will normally operate on their respective routes.
On Sundays we do not operate as many buses and it is on this day that we have 'spare' branded buses and will use them on other routes as they are generally the most efficient.

Can we do this too?

Brand new buses parked in the yard doesn't seem right to me. Branded No1 Enviros on the 126 maybe??

And two E400H on the 59 to make it fully Hybrid operated. How many buses are on the 1 on a Sunday? The 59 has atleast 4 B5's on a Sunday.

No, the 59 has at least 3 B5s on a Sunday. Recently it has been 3 B5s and 3 Tridents on the 59 on a Sunday timetable

Only last Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday. Had 4 B5's Two tridents for 4-5 Sundays running now. Will probably go back to 4 B5's two tridents.

This is entirely logical from a company point of view - sensibly using newer buses on a Sunday, but it does make a bit of a mockery of all this branding material.

Since the Hybrids started operating on a Sunday in May only has there been one occasion when there have been less than 3 B5's (It was 4 tridents,Two B5's)

Yes I know, I said at least 3 B5s, not up to 3 B5s

Oh must have read that one wrong or worded my own sentence wrong ;)

Valandil

I think it might be a bit different with the hybrids, as they require more downtime don't they?
(I'm genuinely asking: not too sure about that one).

Well 5510-14 are typically on the 59 mainly or sometimes the 1 up to 7 days a week so they don't get a rest

Stu

Let's keep this thread on topic with unusual workings in Coventry please...

(there are enough threads already mentioning hybrids on the 59...  ::))
