Let's keep this thread on topic with unusual workings in Coventry please...

(there are enough threads already mentioning hybrids on the 59...  ::))

Ok back on topic then Can you really say anything in Coventry is unusual? I would say CV have by far the most Unusual Workings reported

Valandil

Yeah: I would say that any decker on the 2, 3, 27 or 42 is unusual, and Eclipses being on routes like the 10 or 21.
But I completely agree that, particularly of late, it's not too surprising to see vehicles off their usual sets of routes.

JoNi

Its great from an enthusiasts point of view that the variety exists in Coventry where vehicles are used to best effect not just route bound.
NXC have defined vehicle types for each working down to Volvo and Trident ALX400s, which never happens in practice!
I know of some readers of this forum who are fans of Geminis who are interested when they appear on any route other than the 13/A.
Things should return to normal next week when term time schedules resume.

It's great that the most modern vehicles are being used on Sundays, the next challenge is to use modern vehicles to best effect on weekdays, after all it ought to be possible to reduce the use of the costly Bendybuses on the 4 by effective cross linking of buses from other routes.

Today's oddities

8/A       Gemini 4695
13        Enviro 4886, 4889
18/A     B7 2153 back now with sky blue front
42        B7 2177

I envy enthusiasts in London who have their vehicle finder site www.londonvf.co.uk which gives the location in real time and a history of what TfL routes vehicles have recently operated on.
Be great if we could have something like this with NX!

JoNi

NXC stuck by their word and used far more B7s today only one Merc in service on the 16
2/3/23   were 20 branded B7s
4           unbranded B7s
5E/7      were 9 branded B7s

No more Enviros used resulting in usual number of ALX400s and a few Geminis out in traffic.

529 branded 4604 on the 59 from 12:11pm onwards and 5510 on the 32/33/79 for the whole day. Also 5513 may have gone onto an unusual route, as it was parked up in the bus station for a while, but didn't see what it did.

Matt,5513 had a defect so went back to garage

Now back to Coventry!... Today and yesterday a waft of double decks, at least three on both days working services 2 and 3,
included Gemini 4692 today.  Just a pity the driving is noticeably slower these days. ::)

And NXC now confirms services 2, 3 and 21 moves to Fairfax Street former stand V next Monday "on a temporary basis"
[not to be confused with the stand at the rear of bus station which is now lettered V].

JoNi

Presume 2/3 and 21s are moving to Fairfax Street while they install the new zebra crossing outside Sainsburys.

JPC: slower driving may be down to new starters who are "finding their feet".
There are some new faces around on the 2/3 and I got a picture of three tridents together outside Sainsbury's on Monday.

The 23 to Allesley Park has also gained double deckers as well.

Ashley 4566

Yesterday (dont know how unusual the below are anymore)

4409 - 5
2176 and 4422 - 23
4690 - 42
4693 - 6/6A

JoNi

Ashley things remain very fluid at the moment.
There were a couple Mercs on the 1 which freed up B7s hence why 2176 appeared on the 23, they've been on 2/3 and 16 recently.
4690 on 42 is rare, rarer still was 4692 on the 21 yesterday.
Geminis appear on 6 every day even Sundays recently.
21 branded 4842 appeared on the 11/12 yesterday.

Ben

I'm counting this as an unusual working.
One evening this week on the 7, a driver missed the turn* from Barker Buts lane on to Courtland Ave. when working towards Brownshill Green.
As such, the bus continued up the Hollyfast road to the Norman Place road bus terminus before coming back down and taking the correct turn.

As such it replicated the old 75!

(*He must have thought he was on a 5 working, else he wouldn't have known where to turn around.)
