How? When they don't operate any?

I've took a liking to the 66 regs recently, they seem smoother. What are the 66' reg plattys like to drive in comparison to the smart hybrids?

Didn't they have loans which were 66 plates a couple years back? I'm sure they had 6835 and 6852 at a time for a while didn't they

Excuse my genuine ignorance on this but what's the difference between them? From a passenger perspective I honestly can't tell.

I can tell the difference between the early ZF MMCs and the later Voith ones, but the 66/67/68/19/69 reg ones all seem the same to me.

The 66 reg ones sound much nicer. The 19 reg ones are much more dull

From what I can gather. The 66 Plates sound more like an e200/Voith and sound much more prominent. There is a difference upstairs on the ex Coventry 68 Plates to the 66's at WN I noticed from experience. The 68's have the USB Charging actually in the seat backs, the 66's have it under the seats. The 68's also sounded quieter than the WN 66 Plates.

Without knowing much on the technical side, in terms of appearances, they have a few minor differences

For example, the engine grilles (the non-smart hybrids tend to have more grilles on the left, the smart hybrids tend to have more on the right), the appearance of the fuel filler behind the driver's window on the offside is a bit different (smart hybrid, non-smart hybrid)

In terms of engine sound, they do differ slightly:

I didn't know any of the Platinums were hybrids. They're not like the 54xx hybrids.

They're not Hybrids. Smart Hybrid was a phrase started by Wrights where they generate electricity and it is used to power items that traditionally were hydraulic, so it took some of the effort of the engine to save fuel.

No part of a smart hybrid is used to power the bus as in a normal hybrid

Fair enough. From a passenger perspective, and someone who is now on their 50s, I'm honestly not that fussed on what sound a bus makes. I appreciate there are minor differences as to where USB ports are located and where the external vents etc are located, but I thought that there might be something fundamentally different between the types.
