Quote from: Funnysnow18 on June 25, 2024, 10:01:47 PMWho ever decided to send the 82/87 branded buses to Glastonbury is stupid if 2 of them broke on way up there they usually take 6990 6991 6992 6993 they are more reliable all the 87 branded ones always break down and also why take 6981 out of passenger service to go onto Glastonbury that isn't right.
You do realize that buses can be used on any route, just because branded buses have gone to Bristol doesn't mean a bus has been taken off the 82/87

It was 6981 was on 87 yesterday and it went back to garage then 30 minutes later it went off towards Glastonbury but obviously it never made it there as its on 87 today

So the company has a 42pvr reduction from the 3rd June at the start of summer timetables  it uses 14 to make money and keeps 28 extra spares for normal service is greed in your book?

How do you know it was going to Glastonbury?

I was under the impression that some of the electrics in storage would be used, like the Zenobe 'spares' were last year.

Let's not start going down that path again, I remind everyone that we take a dim view of attacking/speculating about other members here.

The Forum Rules make this quite clear.
My locals:
2 - Birmingham to Maypole | 3 - Birmingham to Yardley Wood
11A/C - Birmingham Outer Circle | 27 - Yardley Wood to Frankley

This isn't the strongest argument given that they never used to take 42 buses off at the start of June!  Used to be mid July.

Yes they have taken buses off in June for several years.

WB has 12 less buses out each day now than it did in May, hence why they have 4 at Glastonbury

But it is true. See:

Why reduce in June when the schools don't finish until mid July

I would imagine that last year NX found there was a bit of a drop-off in passengers from the start of June.

Universities are winding down, maybe school exams mean fewer peak time passengers.  And, just a guess, but maybe more working people are taking holidays/leave in June?

I agree, the usual reducing of the 65/67 happens and it's always a nightmare, they've been doing this for years when schools don't break up till July. Joke.

Sorry for keeping off topic(unless it becomes a grower!), but reduced summer service levels in Brum & Black Country has only been a thing since the 90's hasnt it, as I dont recall it before that.

I know from Malcolm Keeley's book, Coventry did it presumbly from the year dot, as there's pics of Cov buses in Brum & text refering to buses being brought over to take advantage of reduced summer schedules in Cov.
