4125 was actually on a daytime duty on the X51 today.  It left Birmingham on a lunchtime X51 just after leather-seated Enviro 4768, which was on the 51 - not itself uncommon, but surely the allocations would have been better the other way round??

Deckers on the 4's or 311/313 perhaps, be much more useful on routes like these compared to the 70A for example but that's just my own opinion

Any reason why 764 was in King's Heath coming down Avenue Road?

I am guessing it may have been going to take up that Shuttle bus (whose name has slipped me) which PB ran with the Solos?

Nice to see a 14 reg make it to YW's region - was hopeful of a miracle appearance on the 76 or 27 as it came down in the distance  :D

244 no longer on 301. It's currently sitting and displaying "101 Sorry! Not in Service" in Darlaston Bus Station. The driver is outside, on the phone talking, looking on the board.

16:05, 244 is in Bradford Place. Asked the inspector, he said 244 will serve 39 from Bilston. Departed at 16:07.

I can fill a gap there.

Around 3pm, it came into St Paul's, showing that destination & carrying passengers, so suspect it came off the 301 at that point.

It then departed empty up St Paul's St towards the Wolverhampton Road, which is where you come in.

4015 replaced 4588 which was on that board at 1000 this morning.  4015 was also a replacement as the 0950 Wolverhampton to Merry Hill did not run and 4015 was on that board this afternoon.  So it seems that two WN Tridents have been replaced today.

there was an e200 on 79 this morning, 1 on service 3 1 on service 4. a good start considering they were to upgrade other routes such as 81 27/a 28 etc. as for the one on the 62 it was stuck in the perton bus lane as it didnt have the transponder thing. the driver wouldnt risk following a no.10 through so has to wait for assistance to reverse him out.

If it finished the board off it will be

16:36 Walsall to Blackheath
17:35 Blackheath to Walsall

It has actually done the complete running board since 8am including a 4H, surprised it has only just been spotted

It was last one out of garage, so presumably nothing else was available at the time. If a driver found a fault on the allocated Scania and there wasn't another one in the garage then he had to take whatever there was.

In terms of getting a decker around the route, then every route other than the 38 should be able to support them (obviously due to the interworking this adversely impacts most 34 & 39 journeys as well). The 311/313 have used them in the past & todays working has shown the 4, 4H & 4M are capable. I guess loadings on these services don't justify them receiving double decks at the current frequencies?

deckers used to run on the 311/3 until one day one hit a bridge on the way to garage and then they were banned, because the 4 4H & 4M also use Bradford Place i would assume where possible, deckers are not used on these routes either?

I suggested this a while ago, convert the 4 to decker operation with a 10 minute frequency Walsall to Blackheath. The Scanias could be used to wipe out all the B10L's, just a suggestion though

This may well have pre dated the practice of running boards specifying the route buses are to take between Depot and the start  / finish points of the running board. All buses running between Bradford Place and Walsall depot are now instructed to go around the back of Asda and  down the side of Tescos rather than up the 38 route to the Manor Hospital.

The only problem you have is that you can never predict what people will do, with all the will in the world you can't predict if the driver of a late running bus decides to take a short cut back to garage and either forgets or takes no notice that he is driving a decker.

The best way to get the 4 operated by decker is to transfer it back to WB, but as we know WB have space problems so at the moment that is not feasible.

cheers for confirming the 6 branded B7RLE. Will edit that now. What time did you see 2010?

I'm not certain. I think it was about 10 minutes after I saw 2072.

There have been a few single deckers creeping onto WN's double deck routes again recently. maybe its to do with the fact there are extra buses being used for the Metro replacement

5509 on BC9 this morning. presumbly going onto 829?

Walked up to Quinton this morning to catch it on the 9 back to town after the school service. I must have got my times wrong as I only saw one BC working (B7RLE) :( Was expecting it to turn up around 9:00-9:15 but it must be the 15 minutes before that.

deckers used to run on the 311/3 until one day one hit a bridge on the way to garage and then they were banned, because the 4 4H & 4M also use Bradford Place i would assume where possible, deckers are not used on these routes either?

I would imagine that if a driver chose to ignore what the running board said and take an alternative route he /she could face disciplinary action in the same way if they chose to do that while operating on route.

A few weeks ago a mate of mine who drives at WB worked a duty on Dudley Road starting about 11. On his first trip on the 82 he was observed by 2 Inspectors in Bearwood running straight up Bearwood  Road instead of via Sandon Road and Rutland Road. He was called in the Office to explain why he had done this. In nearly 5 years at WB he had only operated the 82 once before 2 years ago and was unaware of this minor route change. This was accepted and no further action was taken.

To get a good run up the hill, you need to avoid turning left into farm road...Although that section is pointless anyway!

Only thing is that the buses must turn left anyway or there would be a nice downhill stroll because It'd be pointless putting a stop at the bottom of the hill for buses going up

Ahh... That was brilliant - 634 went up the hill verrrry slowly! Had the young pedestrians (teenagers) running up the hill to take pictures or video the bus struggling up the hill. Passengers laughed and shouted "wa-hey!" once reached to the top. :P It was really nice to experience it again, reminded me of the days on 283. Yup, glad I made a good last minute decision going on 634. ;D

Hahaha, if the driver had just climbed the hill on full revs rather than chug chug chug chug chug , you'd have got up the hills quicker

Haha. ;D He couldn't because he went around the mini roundabout in Farm Road. :P
It can't of been as bad as 4004 going up there saturday. :) hahaha

B6s do it better. :P It's not the same with a Spectra, imo. ;)

Looking at the allocation list this morning it appears 2014 was not allocated at the garage so i presume either 4018 or 5406 was supposed to be allocated to that board as neither are on 59's but were meant to be allocated.

Not always...

If some one had reported 1898 on the 6 yesterday (which it was) Was it between Sutton and Walsall (bus was at Walsall till last week) or Yardley Wood where bus is now. Vehicles do move garages and can end up on a route with the same number within a couple of days

Yes, it does matter. Don't assume everyone know everything. Look how LS easily got mistaken by thinking it was the YW 27. This is why we all use garage codes to avoid confusion.

5401 was driven into Wolverhampton Bus Station by an engineer who then took 4547 (Which was stood on Stand U) back to garage. It then pulled onto the 126 stand for a few minutes before pulling out of the station Not In Service.

I'm sure i saw 4547 on the 126 earlier on so 5401 must have gone onto the 126 as a replacement vehicle. Still, Its very rare to get an E400Hybrid on any route at WN other than the 1 and 59 on Sundays

Yes i know that now. Its working running board 59/10 which finishes at W'ton Bus Station at 20:24. Was allocated from garage too!

638 was allocated to 59/07 from garage too which surprised me. The B6's are usually on peak time extra boards or they replace defective vehicles already allocated.

They should probably do something, give it a Euro 6 engine!

or a better solution, turn it into coke cans!!!
Nuu, I don't want that to happen to ALX400s. I don't even think coke cans are made from fibre glass.

1477 out on the Walsall 40 & 41 today

Caught the 13:25 ex Walsall on 40. :)

842 on WN 4, seen it in Queen Street at 14:13, heading to Pendeford.

586 on WN 59, seen it in Wolverhampton Bus Station at 15:14.
634 came on WN 59, same place at 15:22.

4008 on WN 2, seen passing Pipers Row, heading to Warstones, I'd estimate around 16:02.

2003 on 529, seen it arriving in Wolverhampton Bus Station at 16:09.

633 on WN 10, seen it in same place at 16:27.

634 replaced 4559 on 59/01 which moved onto the 1.  586 isn't as noteworthy due to being on peak board 59/14 which is regularly a midi-bus

Bit of old gen for today but a West Brom E200 which from memory was 812 (but not certain ) on a 80 service outside the Bull Ring about 820am - first one i have seen on that and it looked empty so may have been an extra.

Also bit belated but in West Brom Saturday the 53 service was certainly solid Mercs in the morning and also viewed 1695 on a 48 which must be rare now!

Do Mercs still operate the Sunday 48? Only saw one 48 on Sunday and it was a ALX400 B7TL. I have observed that the Sunday 42/3 have been allocated E200's for the past couple of weeks instead of the Mercs.

I probably should know this for sure as I live 5 mins away from the 48. But I think so yes. Two weeks ago, the evening Sunday buses were 4249 and 4530, I haven't seen a Merc on the 48 on a Sunday for a while

Caught the 4H at 16:24 departure ex Walsall (although a few minutes late, tut tut). It was a really nice ride. Coming back to Walsall, when the bus got to Coombs Road, it managed to get up the hill, there was a point where the hill was very steep, the bus was like a B6 (weird but funny)! It got the power back again after passing the steep bit.

If the OP feels its noteworthy then thats fine. I had already posted it earlier on in the RBBOR thread this morning but it is worth a mention as you don't have 1 branded vehicles on the 59. Infact its worth a mention that it was the only E400H today on there.
