4769 has just entered West Bromwich Bus Station on the 4M

Now that is a noteworthy working!
If it finished the board off it will be
15:10 from Merry Hill to Walsall
16:36 Walsall to Blackheath
17:35 Blackheath to Walsall

It has actually done the complete running board since 8am including a 4H, surprised it has only just been spotted

Does this mean that deckers are going to be regulars on the 4M or are they experimenting?

It was last one out of garage, so presumably nothing else was available at the time. If a driver found a fault on the allocated Scania and there wasn't another one in the garage then he had to take whatever there was.

And let's hope he went the right route to Bradford Place!

Seriously though,  could any of Walsall's Bradford Place services support double deckers on a regular basis?

In terms of getting a decker around the route, then every route other than the 38 should be able to support them (obviously due to the interworking this adversely impacts most 34 & 39 journeys as well). The 311/313 have used them in the past & todays working has shown the 4, 4H & 4M are capable. I guess loadings on these services don't justify them receiving double decks at the current frequencies?

deckers used to run on the 311/3 until one day one hit a bridge on the way to garage and then they were banned, because the 4 4H & 4M also use Bradford Place i would assume where possible, deckers are not used on these routes either?
Pensnett is my local garage. Favourite bus of all time is Fleetline 6360 (KON 360P).

Yes, but today shows they can do it if they wanted to!

True, but where do you get the Deckers from (4 PVR must be quite high) and what happens to the Scanias?

I suggested this a while ago, convert the 4 to decker operation with a 10 minute frequency Walsall to Blackheath. The Scanias could be used to wipe out all the B10L's, just a suggestion though

453x - WA997
1893 - WA70A

I don't know if this is exactly rare. Every time I saw 4534 at WA, it was always on the 997. I wonder what route(s) the Geminis are intended for

This may well have pre dated the practice of running boards specifying the route buses are to take between Depot and the start  / finish points of the running board. All buses running between Bradford Place and Walsall depot are now instructed to go around the back of Asda and  down the side of Tescos rather than up the 38 route to the Manor Hospital.

The only problem you have is that you can never predict what people will do, with all the will in the world you can't predict if the driver of a late running bus decides to take a short cut back to garage and either forgets or takes no notice that he is driving a decker.

The best way to get the 4 operated by decker is to transfer it back to WB, but as we know WB have space problems so at the moment that is not feasible.
