Would this be the bus that comes off the 702 school service? The timings would possibly fit, that arrives in Bentley at 1545, if it was early it wouldn't have taken long to get through Darlaston.

I think its because 45 & 46E (Great Barr - West Bromwich) interwork in West Bromwich
In Cradley Heath High Street at Lunchtime.
Saw:
1644 (in X96 livery) on the 289 towards Marry Hill. followed immediately by B6 581 also on the 289.
Immediately following that was 1640 (in X96 livery) on the 243.

WB Merc on the 5 in Sutton about half 3...
4526 on the 74E to Dudley Port Station. Never saw a 74E being shortened to Dudley Port station as it's normally Great Bridge.

PE drivers had that pleasure the other day as two B6s were on the 53/289! No escape either, when buses are on the 243/4 circuit you often see them with the last digit half way between the 3 and 4 on the rear number indicator to stop them having to be changed.

Lol half a turn...I mean how lazy is that and how much time does it actually save...opening cab door 5secs, walking length of bus 5secs opening blind hatch 5secs, changing blind fron 4 to 5 5secs, closing blind hatch 5secs, walking back to cab 5secs, opening cab door 5secs...Total saving of time 35seconds you couldn't even open a paper to the previous page you was reading in that time! This is why drivers get bad reputations...even the good ones that do bother to spend the extra 35secs to change a blind!!!!!!

I also thought it was against the rules not to have your blinds and number indicators properly set!
i think it is against the rules but as long as the front blind is correct that's all that matters. next time you're in city or WB look out for the mercs on the 83 and 89. front blinds correct, side and rear blinds blank!

Isn't that because they can't get out of the cab to change the blinds when in Birmingham for safety reasons as the service interwork's in the city centre.

Rarely, they'll put the side blind up. But as there is a seat right next to the side blind, I can see this as frustrating

Arriva buses never had side blinds on them or rear ones (when they were manual wind ones except the ones that used to be on the 33 electric roller ones) its only when hanovers were fitted side and rear ones came and that was on low floor ones very few step buses had all round blinds. If you did pye green circulars try changing 3 blinds in 1 min and with a cash bag you would lose 10 mins securing money and that would be to change a 25 to 26 and vice versa. Glad all the Pye green buses were first in having hanover blinds people did not have any time to give you a chance to alter the number.

I was on one of the new Enviro200s on the 222 today, and as well as spotting a B6LE (which was 544), I also noticed a Merc on there too.
Despite the publicity on their website, this particular 222 hadn't yet learned to talk as it didn't say a word the whole trip. :-X
Also quite amusingly, while travelling on another Enviro200 earlier in the afternoon, on the 99 in Harborne, I noticed a hybrid on the 24 while a Trident was on the 23.

1845 Is a leather seated Omnilink, that usually sticks to the 952. These ones are unusual on other routes. If there is any route these frequently appear on it is the 638. One of these is quite unusual on the 46, but normal bus seated OmniLink's are usual on the 46, yes. The 952 had a 70** and a 19** on it today.

There was a branded X51 gemini on the X51 today but the front blind was hardly working only showing Bir and that was it not sure which one it was but suppose this is when branding comes in handy as you will expect the bus to be an X51 when looking at it.

Lots of unusual workings all round today while ticket machines were sorted.
Every bus in the fleet had to have either a replacement ticket machine fitted, or be parked close enough to its home garage wifi to be reprogrammed. This was done in 3 ways.
At West Bromwich where i was helping stocks of reprogrammed machines were taken to the bus station and replaced during short layover, while buses with a longer layover were taken to the overflow park which has wifi and the machine reprogrammed that way.
Other garages including BC sent any spare buses to the city centre, changed with buses in service which were then taken back to the garage within wifi range
What was wrong with the machines?

Also, can I ask, why is the 1 still President operated when its frequency is less than every 30 minutes? Is it because Town Hall doesn't count as "city centre"?

Yeah I think your right the Town Hall is just outside of the emission zone so presidents are OK on the 1.

A 126 branded trident on the 79 it might have been 4582 if that is still in 126 branding only caught the registration at a quick glance and try to make out which trident it exactly was but was definitely branded for the 126.
640 on the 79 bet that was cosy for passengers a service now every 20 minutes having a b6le on it.
I was on the 39 and when i saw it it was emty. Probably as everyone got on the 39

Thanks, makes sense then. :) do you know if NXWM gain special permission to run some older buses into the centre or do they just do it and get told off or something? Because I saw a B10L running the daytime 67 a few days ago too.

4512 on the 241. Now that's unusual.
Actually there's nothing unusual about it at all, WB operate a board on th 140/241 weekday mornings to help PE out, and its usually a Gemini or B7 ALX400 and its also always normally driven by exactly the same driver, who happens to be one of the best out there.
Well as I'm normally at school at that time obviously I won't have seen it, although I'm surprised that I haven't bumped into it once. Was a very strange sight...
Here is 4519 on the 241 back in September

Does it do a 140 from Birmingham to Dudley and a complete 241 round trip back to Dudley?
off the top of my head it runs private to Blackheath, does a 140 to City, back to Dudley as a 140 then a 241 to Halesowen and back to Dudley, or something similar, then goes back to garage about 10, 1030 ish.

Those times are a little early I think as it passed me heading out of Halesowen at about 10:15. The driver seemed to be smiling, perhaps at noticing me staring at the oddity of a Gemini in Halesowen.
This happens week-daily though right? If so I'm heading out to get a photo of it tomorrow morning

1526 was on the 83/89s today. Interestingly, as the 83 and 89 interwork, i wonder why some of the crew changes are done at Oldbury?
i belive with the 83/89 a driver will take over in oldbury, drive the 89 to blackheath, then to bham were it changes to 83 west brom and back the back to 89 and gets relived in oldbury.. i belive this is the case
either way the 89 is driven by 127/8/9 drivers so guessing its on the same rota.

just thought it strange that even though the bus will end up in West Brom, the changeover point is Oldbury.
there must be a reason behind it, just seems odd.

Not exactly unusual, but kind of strange... there's 6 buses on the Pershore Road on late nights (3 45s and 3 47s).
Out of the 6 buses were 4140, 4141, 4142 and 4143.
Also Julie (aka 4177) was out on the Bristol Road, feeling bare as she has been stripped of her 97 branding.
I hope they give the 97 some really good branding when the route changes to the airport, it's long overdue.

812 - 818 were only at BC as a short term measure to cover vehicle shortages, BC's allocation is 801 to 810. All the others including 818 have now gone to WB, although as far as I'm aware 818 was the last to move across.

Some quite interesting ones today, once again, the 2 was the route for rare workings:
4116 & Enviro - 2
B7RLE, possibly 2152 - 59
Omnilink - 94
4869 - 997
B7TL - 67
The enviro 2 was a freshly debranded 4748, didn't see the president though so well done!

You'll have a job on if it was 2152, that belongs to Central garage!
There is a Birmingham route 59 too. Birmingham - Kingshurst.
Just noticed a B7RLE on the 11A, which is very unusual for a Sunday.
B7RLEs also seem to be the common allocation now on the 1 on Sunday, so should be plenty of double-decks spare.
Also spotted 2153 which still seems to be at AG, on the 37 (can spot that one a mile off, as its all white!)
The village is swarming with Urban 2s!
It's 2117 and it turned up for me on the 11A too earlier, needless to say I waited for the next one as I cant stand the heaps :P
Also noticed 4739 2, although not that rare for a Sunday.

I was referring to BC59
4697 was on the 94 all day long - I was waiting for a 14 on Priory Queensway and saw that pulling up and made my journey to Tile Cross a whole lot longer by jumping on it! Not very often I get to ride on an Omnicity.

B6LE out in force today at WN.
Couple more days yet before we get unusual workings posted, it hasn't really settled and they're everywhere.
I did see 632 on 59 though.
816 and 822 on the 40. Think it's fair to say this is becoming less and less an unusual working though.
Very rare 584 on the 44
1589 back on the 46
3609 may have been withdrawn but I wonder if a few more darts have with a b6le on the 41/44.

Not sure what it is about 11's but if I remember correctly the 11A/C used to get allsorts on it years ago also!!
You can get anything on it at anytime B6/B7/Trident/Spectra/Excell/O405N
They also use Tridents on Sundays which interwork with 32/33
The 11 doesn't interwork with the 32/33 anymore. The 32/33 intetwork with the 79 and thats why the 32/33 get tridents on sunday. I think the first 11 into the bus station from underhill on a sunday is a trident which goes onto the 32/33/79.

Ok it must have been 1431 and was heading to West Bromwich to start it journey on the 4 no need for the exclamation mark Tony everyone makes mistakes !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh and the interior of 1434 was virtually spotless despite having been on the 51 for 10 hours. No ingrained dirt, no worn seats and all the plastic around the front and wheelarches looking very clean. There were a few sweet wrappers floating around the floor, but visually it gave a very good impression for such an old bus.
Definately better than anything at Cannock other than the latest VDL/Wrights
Shame when it went over a bump one of the windows sounded like it was going to fall out.
