Wonderful to hear that 4866 has gone for Crimsoning - Walsall E400's are extremely tatty so nice to hear the 51 is been Crimsoned.
1886 is the other Walsall Scania in paint. 5511 is now in and will be painted early next week
Bet they'll leave 1885 till last!
It wont be the same without the incomplete offside fleetname or the non standard fleetnumbers!

I heard Walsall send their Omnilinks into repaint just before their MOT expires. I'd like it to be left last, it's the oddball of the Walsall's Omnilinks since 1918 left them.
1838; 4488 & 5510 all now added to the list being done. 5518 will go over to Walsall tonight

@Tony is 1895 still in paint?
Spotted two slight errors in the list, 1929 and 4492 are still in the old livery.
Errors above sorted

1842 1844 both out been seen on 34/7/9 yesterday
What's happened to the red/white repaints on the ALX400's? Just seems to of suddenly halted.
4275 (a trapped one) looks an absolute mess. Thought it would of been repainted by having an extended lifespan. I know the untrapped ones won't as they don't that long left but the trapped ones that still a state (4275 at WB, 4280 and 4289 (when the red bull ad is removed) at PB)

Yes, and it will be PB 4482
4482 will actually be the 506th vehicle to be repainted - repaint list from 20th Feb corrected with thanks to
@uniquicity , Winston
2047 is green.
853 now in paint. Will be the first crimson E200
I saw a Coventry B7RLE approaching Walsall town centre earlier, too far to ID from my bus but looked like a new repaint heading home.

A quick observation
@Tony but should 2201- 50 now be split between YW & AG now as half of them is it, have now moved to YW or is it too much hassle as they were new to AG originally. Just wondering that's all?

Because it makes commercial sense, you will see why soon
Is it being painted for publicity purposes?
Most recent 'cartoon' style publicity from Nx has featured both crimson & red/white vehicles.
Is there a point where company publicity will concentrate soley on promoting the crimson livery?
The older buses will soon be withdrawn so.no point in painting them only to be withdrawn a few years later

will 853 and another be refurbed for the 54?
I see 2015 is the latest 3/4 branded to go for repaint, leaving us with just 2017/18 branded.
Will the same buses be branded for the same routes once all of WN's B7RLE's are Crimsoned?

Will 4733 be a Crimson Repaint
@Tony?
What's going on with 850? Will it be in a black and silver livery as parts of the front have been changed, or are they just replacement parts that will be painted in due course?

Ah, good to hear. There's already enough different liveries going around right now, I don't think I'd like another one! ;D

Yes,

Hi,
@Tony. 1843 isn't in the paint shop. It was out on the 39 today, still in red and white livery with Leamore Windows & Conservatories rear ad.

Should be 1847
Thanks
4733 is done and 1846 is in paintshop.
I've just seen the photo of 853 that's up on the main site, I've got to say, I think crimson looks amazing on the E200s, it's way nicer than the red and white livery. In fact, I don't think there's any bus in the fleet that doesn't look better in crimson, to be honest.

I agree with you, suits the E200's. Way better than the red/white. Hope an Omnicity will go Crimson (I highly doubt it now though).

The crimson livery to me is the best livery since the WMPTE blue & Cream days IMHO

Yeah, I doubt that's ever going to happen. I reckon it'd look nice though since crimson does suit the Omnilink's.

A bit disappointing (IMHO) that 4733 hasn't had the bars above and below the destination display finished in Black like the E400s from 4737 upwards, particularly as recent repaints have shown attention to detail (e.g. black window surrounds on 5501-09). They look much smarter and more modern with the black destination surrounds.

When Tony decides to send them in for repaint.
It's spelt 'Bordesley' not 'Bordsely'.

Some of them look quite jaded and tatty, the red has turned orange too on a lot of them.

Not all of WA's ex PB Omnilinks were not done at the same time though, 1838-1843/1847 were done late 2013/early 2014. 1844/5/6 were done in early 2015.
1846 is done. It is out on WA 6 today.

That makes no difference as not all of BYs were done at the same time either, for example 1833 was done in 2012... The bulk of them were done in 2014 anyway, same as the BV57s at Walsall.

Are there any plans to repaint the E400 hybrids at Wolverhampton in the near future? I'm guessing the company would rather have a uniform fleet, especially since they're soon to be the only ones in a hybrid livery, but they're also slightly newer than the B5LH's, so maybe not?

The first batch 5401-5409 are the exact same age as 5501-5509, the 13 plates are newer than the 61 plates.

@Westy, 1885 is now in, looks like it's the end of seeing its black fleetnumbers and its messed up logo. Then again it's been in that state for about six years now.

1885 has had white fleet numbers where the black ones used to be for a few months now

Just been sent a photo of the facebook post myself; looks a bit basic for what it is, though I suppose it might; looks like she's lacking vinyls at the moment. Still, it'll be nice to get a photo of it when it's out. No pun intended. ;)

They look worse than any B7RLE.

But they can't be spared. Could be why 1932 to 1935 returned to Yardley Wood, so they could get repainted
1932 went to back to YW? 1933/4/5 are the ones that went back unless more are going.

PN 826 now for crimson
WB 810 now in for repaint starting the early WB E200 paint plan, All of 801-830 are due to go crimson in the next 9 months
What is the current criteria for crimson repaint at the moment?
I know it's double deckers 4425 upwards, but where do single deckers fit in?
Would I be correct in thinking as E200's are coming up for their first repaint after their first few years in service, they will automatically be crimsoned?
I hope 4601 gets crimson and 4597-4605 batch at some point seems odd having them missing in the middle. Good to see progress on Walsall scanias.

At the moment it is any '07' late onwards that's repainted will get Crimson which includes all single decks
There may be a couple of surprises out of the paintshop this year though

2605 must be due a repaint by now 😝
WN's 2001 and 5401 are both back in service after repaint.
Has another wn hybrid and a branded 2 bus took its space?
5402 is now being done

Unlikely as it is - I was rather hoping to see an all-blue NXC Trident (it could only really be one of 4450-54 as all the others are too old, although 4450/52 have already had two coats of blue & white).
2018 due out in service tomorrow, 2002 going in. 2010 also now in.

@Tony is the plan for the crimson b7s at WN to crimson the branded buses for the 5/6/10 routes first before moving onto the other garages ?
It looks like repainted NXC 4841 [on Tony's pics] has gained the lighter version of the two-tone blue livery, not the darker version - is that right?! (Quit edit - perhaps it is the darker version after all)

I've heard a rumour a trident is going to be painted into esop green and gold
The positive publicity being generated that 4601 and any subsequent heritage/retro liveries NXWM are planning will be absolutely incredible amongst all enthusiast and non enthusiast folk.
Gotta applaud NXWM Managers and people like Tony Hunter for making these special liveries actually eventuate.
Special mention should also go to the WA body shop for their commitment, expertise and dedication in their work rebuilding and then repainting 4601.
Fingers firmly crossed 4601 gets a DPF kit fitted so she's Brum compliant and gets the exposure that she deserves.

I know that, you half asleep? I don't constantly ask when will PN's B7RLE's painted. I was just stating that the Omnilinks and Omnicitys are as tatty as each other, if you read my post... which said nothing about the whole fleet being painted at once.

Will Coventry 4839 appear in the same scheme as 4841 - i.e. the same two-tone blue as 4763-76/836. Or will this be the first in the revised [darker] livery? - unless only single decks are getting that.

There was a report on this forum that detailed the progress of E400H and B5LH. As the batteries on the E400H deteriorated they were able to contribute less energy so the engine had to do most of the work, to the extent that the fuel consumption was little different to a straight diesel. Degradation on B5LH batteries was far less. What I can't understand is how it can possibly take more than a few weeks to convert 5409 to straight diesel.

This document by Darren Astbury of NXWM talks about both battery and fuel economy deterioration on the E400Hs. Slide 7 has the mpg figures for both hybrid types, and for conventional diesels. From that article, it would appear that the B5LH has been a far sounder investment than the E400H.
http://www.lowcvp.org.uk/assets/presentations/7.%20Hybrid%20Buses%20in%20Birmingham%20-%20Darren%20Astbury,%20National%20Express.pdf
So unless that paper by the Head of Engineering Development is wrong, the post about worsening fuel consumption sounds correct.

No worries BN, I personally found this document a really interesting read. One assumes that the battery degradation and cost of replacement would be the drivers behind the decision to convert to conventional diesel (a number of other operators including Reading Buses have done the same with the E400H). Also interesting were the miles between breakdown statistics, with the B5LH faring better than the standard E400. Reliability of the E400H looks erratic to say the least.
Don't worry
@BN I thought I saw it earlier in the forum and got a wee bit confused

NXWM have their logo on their buses. The bus in a demo livery for TfWM also had the NX logo, but if the plans are what has been discussed, then you won't need to know the difference, it will be an integrated bus service.

London has a fully integrated public transport network but operators have their logos on buses (though not trams) (and there are variations in internal trim/vehicle types etc). There is opportunity for operators to provide a top rate service (or not) dependent on the quality of staff so there remain lots of points of differentiation between operators even if all the buses are the same colour with the regional transportation Authority logo (as well as the operator logo). The one thing you do generally get is decent integration with max frequencies of 15 mins (far less in most places).
So will this mean i will be forced to buy a swift pass or i will i be able to buy still a NX regional pass.

Its best to wait and see what happens, they haven't announced what they are going to do yet.
But if what
@Michael Bevan orriginally stated is correct then the NX pass would still exsist.
Quote from: Michael Bevan on July 19, 2018, 01:11:34 PM
I believe that the idea is going to be to integrate certain routes where multiple operators are competing on at the moment. So this will be routes such as the 301/302, 42/43, 4/H/M etc. I believe NXWM and Diamond will be the first two operators to launch this livery. I think the idea behind this is that the two operators competing on a certain corridor will actually work together. They will be running a joint frequency, with buses in the same livery and will be able to issue and accept each other's tickets only on these integrated routes. Which means you can technically buy a Diamond Network Ticket from an NXWM bus on the 301, or an NXWM Daysaver off a Diamond bus on the 42. I think that's the idea anyway of how it will work. I think the next few months are going to be really interesting for the West Midlands bus scene... ;)
Will the rest of WB Enviro 200's be Crimsoned or will they receive the Combined livery due to the changes on the 42/43 service.

isnt that the coventry trident @MW was talking about if im not mistaken
Yes, 4453.
I haven't seen 4839 in Cov yet - but does it wear the same tone of blue as 4841 (i.e. the lighter shade) ?
I've been thinking... If 4535's repaint does appear to be the Wolverhampton heritage livery, it'd be nice to see it join 4601 at Buses Festival! Along with 4453 ;) Why not?
It appears NX have already submitted a number of their buses to attend this year's event. According to the Festival's website - in addition to 4601, there'll be a Platinum; a Streetdeck; 3225 & 2957 in attendance!
And unrelated to the topic, but I'm looking forward to seeing some preserved ones there too! (669, 1707, and 4001!)
Looks like you've missed 4862 off your list
@Tony. It was out this afternoon on what I think was it's first day out in crimson. It did an X51 into Birmingham and 937 to Brownhills West on an afternoon peak board.
Doesn't Walsall have 4606-9

That's what I'd thought.
Quick question for anyone in or near Wolverhampton. Has 2004 been repainted and if so when was it done-I've put it on my repaint list as having gone in but not seen any news of it being done......

Not done.
4880 is now done and out on the 63.
Do you know whats replaced it and gone in for a repaint/retrim
@Tony ?
Does anyone know how many E200's will be repainted for the 42/43, and will they be out before the WM Bus stuff actually starts at all?

But how many will stray onto other routes
Will anyone notice? Tfwm livery is so like nxwm crimson to the average bus user.

I'm well aware of that.
I just saw no problem with/harm in asking whats replaced at the time and i've not seen anything which states I shouldn't (I wouldn't normally ask, I was just more interested in as the whole of the batch have gone in for paint now whether more B7RLEs go in, or if something else will go in)?

All the NXWM buses on the 42/43/43A today have been in regular liveries, from what I've seen. One of them was Crimson but all the others were standard Red and White. One or two did have the 'West Midlands Bus' logos added, at least.
I somehow didn't manage to see a single Diamond one so I can't comment on if they're putting out the right liveried stuff.

It all seems to have been a last minute rush, and there's only 2 weeks between this re-launch & the 31/32 on the 2nd Sept where both operators have to get another 8 buses done each.

I saw one diamond b7rle around 9am castle gate, in the new wmb livery plus it was branded 42/43 very very similar to how nxwm brand there own vehicles, the rear end was done too but rather than cover the back window the engine cover received the viynl wrap instead a better idea. Then later around 3pm I saw another or the same one again who knows. IMO to the average bus user it looks like another nxwm bus.

Yeah, I've seen it in person and been on one, this was on Saturday though so before the actual joint thing started, funnily enough. They seem to have eluded me since then!
Looks like 2125 might be the first urban 2 B7RLE to go Crimson or for the new 31/32 route

It's going into the TfWM livery, not Crimson, as you can clearly see the vertical split on the image.
With the summer timetables wonder if they will get all the buses done for the 31&32 in Walsall into the new livery as they done the 54** ones quite quickly for Dundee golf

Seen 814 in the garage last nite all branded up , rear window all vinyl wrapped up as well , different to diamonds b7rle,s
Difficult to tell from the available photos but are either of the 'reds' used for the new TfWM livery the same as the current crimson or the previous red/white NXWM liveries or are they new colours?
Tony, can you offer an answer?
Have I asked an unanswerable question or am I missing something? Surely someone knows!

Taking into account the time it took for 4601 to receive its vinyls; will 4535 be ready in time for Showbus on Sunday?

I agree. It looks stunning.
What replaced 804 in paint?
2102 - Had a minor RTC which needed patching, so is getting a full repaint as it was due soon anyway
Tony, the list from 3 Sept has CV Volvo B7RLE 2155 repainted blue I think - has that one been done? (I have 19 treated if you exclude 2151, which I assume is withdrawn for scrap; 2143-50/52/63/65-69/71-74)
wn 2071 now back in service in crimson

Does look great I was wondering if the grey roof version like 2989 or the version of the WCT livery 4535 is in would be used. Will look fab once the decals have been applied. Just need a WB liveried & a BCT liveried bus to complete the 5 municipality liveries.
Here is 2989 at Wythall for the De-regulation open day.

Guess we'll have to wait and see what the final result will look like... Grey roof seems unlikely, as it looks as though the livery itself has been completed. But who knows?
There's a Wolverhampton trolleybus in preservation, no? FJW 616, I believe. I'd love to get a photo of all three buses (from different eras) together!
With the third heritage livery (almost) completed; I'd be willing to bet the other two would be considered in the near future. Following the theme of Heritage (Trident) ALX400s, I'd personally like to see 4634 be done for BCT; another worthy tribute for Mr. Noel Mulvey - much like 4601's commemoration to the late Mark Gaulden. Unfortunately, as WB doesn't operate the Trident ALXs, I'd be lost as to what they would put in paint for WB. Can't see a B7TL (or anything newer) going in, to be honest.
Wishful thinking does no harm.
Tony did mention a single decker is in for a heritage livery I think

2132 is latest West Midlands bus repaint been out on pm peak board 10.

So a YW trapped ALX400 is likely then?

I'd say one of the 45** that are in red/white, if it was to happen.
Would putting a vehicle in 'Midland Red' livery / fleetnames count for the Dudley area?
(Or would First or Arriva have anything to say about it?)

Apologies, must've missed that.

While it would be nice to have just Tridents in heritage livery, WB do have a load of unbranded E400s in red/white that could be candidates, hell there's at least one still carrying the black stripe from the Suttons that kinda stands out, and would be a vehicle with longevity in the fleet

That's 4927. Couldn't see that having a repaint yet after it's rebuild and still looks smart. 4926 is one that could go through
In the long term, is it just going to be repaints into the WMB livery, or are we still having crimson as well?
(It will be interesting to compare the Diamond repaints & Nx repaints into the Wmb livery & how they last long term.
Dont forget Walsall had an improvement to the paintshop not so long back, which I suppose will stop the red becoming pink overtime. Does Diamond's paintshop have the same quality as Walsall paints?)

I have a picture of BCLM's WCT trolleybus on my flickr page
@CL
West-I'd suspect there will be a mix of the two.

You've got a long wait we're still waiting for 4520 to come out for the last 6-12 months.
Also what happened to possible 1461 becoming a trainer. I did really hope so. She was a great machine at Walsall.

There are 3 vehicles held at Miller Street for future conversions if needed including 4157 & 1461
On the subject of west broms heritage bus livery I think one of the 4900s that were delivered brand new here would be an ideal candidate for job, the other earlier 4900s are from Perry Barr or central I think. Just an idea I,m sure most would agree

It went back to Coventry earlier. I managed to photograph it passing through Walsall on it's way back.

Wouldn't it make more sense to paint the other 61 plate E400s at Coventry before the ones that have already had a repaint?
2126 was back out on the 31/2 yesterday, being the first NXWM B7RLE to receive the new branding.
Is it just me but has anyone else noticed how shabby the crimson livery looks on some buses now it's started to fade.

4879 crimson'd and out in service today
Just saw a photo of it on the X22
What's happened to 2137? Seems to have been in paint a long time.

2126 was back out on the 31/2 yesterday, being the first NXWM B7RLE to receive the new branding.
Caught it today!

The earliest ones are now 3 and a half years old so with constant washing and UV effect would be expected to go dull eventually. The original cycle was quoted as 5 yrs so if that still applies, the earliest ones would be repainted in 2020.
The other thing I've noticed is the effect of lighting conditions - sometimes a bus can look almost matt in colour, in another light you can see a shine. Also the earliest Platinums still look very tidy.

I was wondering if it might appear in a different colour...... dark blue and cream?

No. Just had both RTC repairs and some engine problems stopping it moving around. It will be crimson
Any chance of a BCT livery at some point in time. Call me an old nostalgic but that would be great.

Would rather see a WMPTE livery, we had 2872, 3030 etc in BCT not so long back, and more people would remember WMPTE livery than BCT.

I'd second that. That livery would look very good on, say, an Enviro.

I reckon this WMPTE DP Leyland National livery would look smart on a single decker:

Hint of ageism there B.C.! Still some of us around who can remember 9 JML!
9 JML (3228) - now there was a bus! I'd come out of school, catch the Outer Circle to Stechford and wait in hope that it might turn up.

Oh right ok - a bit of wishful thinking there on my part!! A single decker in BCT colours would look good - especially as it's 50 yrs next October since WMPTE took over West Brom, Walsall, BCT and Wolverhampton. Mind you so would 4879..... Im sure I recall you mentioning getting approval for a single decker heritage livery - unless I dreamt it!!
I too remember 9 JML (and shockingly seeing it withdrawn in Lea Hall garage) and also 460 MTE - such a shock getting in an Atlantean and for all their newness the BCT ones had normal light bulbs - not fluorescent like the Fleetlines. I like the WMPTE dual purpose National livery also and tend to agree a heritage bus in normal WMPTE livery (post late 1970) would be good.
Tony are the 30 earlier E200s still planned to be repainted by the end of October or have the WA B7RLEs pushed in the queue?
Thought 9 JML would stir a few memories. Can still picture it at the 28 terminus in Dyas Road. Happy days. Not sure what happened to it after BCT though.

A very very rare working - almost always on the 14 if anywhere.

As there's only 2.5 weeks of October left, that's not likely to happen.
4879 is out, newly repainted, in crimson on the X70 today.

I'm sure he didn't say October was the deadline for the lowest Enviro midis to be repainted. I thought it was around January next year.....

Tony said end of October was the plan (when they first started to be dealt with). However plans often have to change.

No, they could never be done that quickly. It takes about a month to do each bus. 811-816 were the only rushed ones. They're all in this year's budget but I doubt they'll actually all be done this year
Re 2102
I'm curious why this particular livery was chosen. I mean, yeah it looks amazing, but it isn't really something that many Nationals carried back in the day surely? And not something that has the same sort of local relevance as the heritage Tridents?
're 2102 it look very nice think you will find people were asking
For this livery I may be wrong
2102 was a great surprise im a great livery representing Dudley /Hartshill garage back in the 80s.
Its nice to see the vechile in this Livery not a wmpte or Birmingham city transport already represented by heritage and preserved vechiles.
There once was national in preservation at Aston Manor ex rapsons 1825 OOX 825R I don't know if it still exists but was intended for this bus to go in livery.

1825 was rotten on the chassis so scrapped for parts for 1849s eventual restoration

Yes, was sent in for a tidy up and new fleetnames, so Paint decided the easiest thing to do was a new red front.

Tony, I have 19 Volvo B7RLE's currently in Coventry blue: 2143-50/52/63/65-69/71-74 (as opposed to 20). It looks like 2155 has been listed as being treated - but I think that's still blue/white.
Including 2151 it would have been 20 though! (so it rightly appears in the 'painted in 2018' list - but I assume that one is withdrawn).
816 is back at WB.

Think they missed the bits under the window surrounds on this one. Also in the paintshops haste, none of these are getting the updated emergency exit stickers now.

Thanks, one in paint should read 822
Would it be wise to assume that there will be no further repainted buses this year Tony?

What other livery are you expecting?
I thought it might if been a repaint thanks anyway
The progress of the 4830-4842 repaints seems very slow - are repaints to Coventry blue likely to restart once CV have all the Platinums in service, or reallocation of some? Or will the 4881-4894 batch be started as well.

Don't forget some of them were repainted into the existing blue and white fairly recently too.

There are only a couple of them - 4830 - 4835 not included.
