Winston, have you seen 544 recently?

I haven't,

There were two B6's having work done in the engineering bays today, I'm pretty sure neither of them was 582 as it couldn't have got back to the garage that quick

I saw the two B6s, they looked to be to dirty for 582.

The roller shutter door was down over the upper half of the one nearest the road/depot exit. 582 currently has route number 222 at the rear, there is quite a bit of dirt/oily hand marks over its engine flap

It could have been then Winston, the shutter was slightly further up and i was looking at the sides of the bus. 582 has always been quite clean because it was so recently repainted, this one the paint looked quite worn.
Pensnett is my local garage. Favourite bus of all time is Fleetline 6360 (KON 360P).

My eyesight isn't what it used to be, so didn't even attempt to try identifying them from the road. Whilst I was there, neither of the two couldn't have been 582 as it wouldn't have beat me back from Holly Hall Island

has anyone seen 4810 recently?

On the subject of PE B6's, how many do PE have left and how many see service every day and how long do people think they've got left, as surely just a handful of Mercs would see them out

There are eight B6s left at Pensnett, I see them all on a regular basis except 582, and also 544 in the last week or so.

B6s are the buses of choice over Mercs on a Sunday on the 243/4, owing to their shorter length better suiting the narrow, twisting residential routes

Considering the amount of B6s PE had at one time, its hard to believe they only have 8 left, and only 2 of the long range fuel tank variant.

Numerous times travelled on the 247/8 and you would hear a message from the garage, "replacement bus at Russells Hall Hospital, you nearly out of fuel"

Its not as easy as that, i think they will last a little while yet.

When they are short on the 222, normally B6s are preferred because they fit easier around the tight streets of Nanny Goat Farm, also they are better on the 243/4 boards.

I miss the 247/248 routes, buses were regularly swapped on those routes during the day/evening. B6LE 501-8 were all converted with the larger fuel tank capacities for operating the 247/8 & to reduce the need for having to swap buses over so often

I think Pensnett once had an allocation as high as 53 or 56 B6LE

i never could really understand why they withdrew the 247/8, they were good routes and gave good journey opportunities.

Me either, they provided many useful links, at one time they were busy enough to support BCC & WMT providing a joint 15min frequency. Weren't the 247/248 withdrawn prior to the Dudley review? and replaced in part with the 242, that then was withdrawn at the Dudley Review and was replaced by Diamond's 142 & NXWM 276?

the trainbasher

247/8 were chopped at the same time. as the 264/265 in the Dudley Network Review.

The Dudley to Stourbridge via Halesowen section got replaced by the 242 which got replaced by the 142 and 244
