The only decent Mercs PE have had were these.

Sorry to uhm... make it "off-topic" through the thread of comments above, but I was surprised to see a President on 140 in that picture, it's on the left side from the Merc bus. What garage did operate 140 at that time?

West Bromwich...along with at one stage the 241 and 642 Warrens hall and Uplands circular (now part of the 24) iirc.

Alright, thank you for answering my question, the trainbasher.

Sooner they all go the better

What don't you like about them? Other than you can get a bit warm in the 'hot seat'.....

The only decent Mercs PE have had were these and these IMO!

There again those really, with modern advances, are best remaining as memories...

How can you class the Merc breadvans as decent?

The 0405N's have been good reliable workhorses for NX, it's only in the last couple of years that problems with the Merc fleet are starting to occur including reliability, corrosion & self combusting......

Is there any differences between the UVG bodied O405Ns compared to the Mercedes bodied ones? I can not spot any differences myself

From reading articles about them when they were new (Buses magazine had a few great articles on them at the time) there were some detail differences with the UVG bodied ones but most of these were modified later to bring them in line with the Mercedes bodied ones. One that I can remember is that the drivers screen opened upwards rather than downwards, in the days when drivers could open their screens, these were changed in case they fell catching a head or fingers etc in them.

Not sure if it's already been mentioned but 4193 is back repaired. It doesn't currently have a front logo.

It's been back a fair while Winston, I seem to remember it's been on the 205, 222 and 243/244 since repair

1706 passed me outside Quinton ASDA at about 12:30 this afternoon, not in service. It was going in the Birmingham direction, I can't think of any routes it could of been going to work unless it was going to one of the Hagley Road routes, or going into town for some other reason?
