these b7's have a habit of doing it. if you say crawling in traffic, its as if it changes gear too soon, but cant go back into 1st quick enough. hence the stalling. its hard to explain, but some of wn's allocation do it

And ALL of BC's when new. Good news was BC's management listened to the drivers and got a modification fairly quickly so they no longer cut-out like how you've mentioned. I'm surprised WN's haven't had this mod yet.

I had one of Pensnett's do it on the 244 getting on for a year back, seemed to confuse the driver. I don't remember seeing ours do it many times though.

The mod was done as a campaign, all of WN's were done a while back.

Thanks BN, clarifies a few things

One thing Daimler Mercedes Benz are good at is producing excellent Diesel engines, I do miss the sound of the 0405n for all its faults you couldn't knock that 12 litre engine.

Surprising but very welcome news. Is it acknowledged in NX or in Pensnett that 1515 is significant as the first of its class or is it regarded as just another Merc? Normally engine and gearbox failure would spell the end of a bus this old especially with the class undergoing heavy withdrawals.

bn what was the cause of this stalling?

karl724223

Never had a b7 stall on me
1515 body work in good condition probably catch fire now with a engine in it from a 16xx merc

karl724223

Could the stalling be the engine cut off after 5 min of bus standing still

The only decent Mercs PE have had were these and these IMO!

There again those really, with modern advances, are best remaining as memories...

Sorry to uhm... make it "off-topic" through the thread of comments above, but I was surprised to see a President on 140 in that picture, it's on the left side from the Merc bus. What garage did operate 140 at that time?

West Bromwich...along with at one stage the 241 and 642 Warrens hall and Uplands circular (now part of the 24) iirc.
