Thanks, think I might have started the excited frenzy, sorry

Certainly the garage of extremes with 61etc etc then contrast 1515 1518 etc etc the latter must be the worst on the fleet at the moment. Rain water pours in and vibrates like all the tyres have got flat spots on them and rattle, it's a wonder the glass and panels don't just shake themselves free of the chassis or at least what's left of it!!

Trident 4194

So it seems pe are getting rid of their e400s in random numbering

May Merc 1518 rust in piece! Always had a soft spot for this one. Clearly remember it on its first day in service on the old number 10 route with its bright shiny rear brake lights and the original under body bars that the fleet had. One of those moments in time. I agree it has seen better days but it's been a good work-horse and its time is almost done. Perhaps someone with similar memories and deep pockets will preserve it so it will live on?

Had 1518 last night and I must say wow, it took Buffery Road like a beast, ate it and chewed it up. Didn't lose speed on any of the uphill sections on the 244. When it's withdrawn I'll miss it

Mercs last of the proper big engined buses from a time when emission regs in its infancy, I certainly won't forget chasing birmingham coach company's leyland Nationals with volvo engine outback on the 120 service , simply amazing on city rd tividale that is some hill for a bus to climb, metrobuses always struggled up there. They were just power houses at Hockley garage running private back from dudley seriously entertaining drive. Great days long gone now.

1515 is a surprise, didn't it have a new engine recently?
Pensnett is my local garage. Favourite bus of all time is Fleetline 6360 (KON 360P).
