Is that what they call the area at the back of the garage then Karl. the "dead box".

Wondered why they put the B6s there whilst they removed the ticket machines.
Pensnett is my local garage. Favourite bus of all time is Fleetline 6360 (KON 360P).

The dead box is right in front the bay doors

On the 246 today:

4197, 4201, 4195, 4196, 4198, 4199, 4194, 4193, 4200 & 2092.

Interestingly, at the garage there were very few buses again, 4 Enviros parked ready for service, 1515 was the only bus parked in the dead box leaning badly to one side, 1593 was in the fueling bay, 4813 was parked in the same place yesterday and there was 1 Enviro & 3 Mercs inside the garage.

Have PE gained any extra running boards for the autumn (i know the 246 is plus 1 board) as it is most unusual to see so few buses around the garage, the Dead Box is normally full of buses.

Were you on 1637 then that I drove past?

An Enviro was just leaving as I arrived, with four parked ready for service one on the ramps, 1647 was the Merc next to the Enviros

After just seeing the three 829 services on there way into Brum I was really quite concerned, all buses were full beyond capacity with 3 children per two seats and children standing upstairs on 4803 and 4822 and not to mention 2086 where it was hard to identify where one child stopped and another started surely this needs to be looked at as if any accident was to happen it would be awful, if PE can't spare the three deckers needed at the very least surely a WB 82 could be used from Bearwood.

What about BC's 829? That still runs surely?

One thing Daimler Mercedes Benz are good at is producing excellent Diesel engines, I do miss the sound of the 0405n for all its faults you couldn't knock that 12 litre engine.

That is only in the morning I believe, hence why you get the BC runnings on the 9 in the morning but not the afternoon

No, it uses a decker in the afternoon and it goes and does 1.5trips on the X64, part of duty 28GP. I don't know if it still runs (now were on new timetables/September sheets)

Ah I had always wondered why you get a decker on the X64, thanks. I guess Matt didn't spot the BC 829, or was running late or something

wilmotm (Matt Wilmot)

Well the three buses I saw were PE ones, and thought there were only 3 workings?

Liverpool Street

Saying that, how long has Vernon Road been closed for? Maybe BC's driver didn't know the diversion or something. Or BC only run mornings. I thought Pensnett ran 2 afternoon 829's and BC delivers the third. Not forgetting TGB's contributions.

Anyway, to get back to the original post;

Matt, please report that as it is entirely dangerous and serious breech of health and safety. But remember on modern buses they take a decent standing load. (Even though you couldn't physically fit that volume of people on the lower saloon...)
