25, and 59 already exist locally
Looking forward to seeing how it goes, wonder if they will need more platinum buses for the frequency increase & the new service?
Just an idea but in the future they could extend the current X51s that terminate at Walsall and continue them as the X529. Also renumber it the X52 which would match both the X51 and 529. It would probably end up being the quickest route from Brum to Wolves but I don't think reliability would be good.

They operate from different garages and nobody in Birmingham would travel to Wolvo via Walsall. Doubt that many use the X8 the full length either, the train and tram are faster. And as you said disruption in Brum would impact Wolvo and vice versa.

You say that though, far and away the most convenient way from the Great Barr area to Wolves is up to Walsall and across on the 529. Purely on a selfish note I'd welcome it
Now in exile in Oxfordshire....

X529 timetable now on the NX website. Journey time is about 25 minutes compared to 35 mins of the 529. No Sundays or late evenings but the journey times on the 529 are shorter during those times anyway, the same as 51/X51.

I doubt there's enough capacity to allow the of seats infront and behind to be empty, especially as more people return to using buses. As some buses, namely single decker 55's do look very busy from what I've seen and in some cases probably don't have room to always allow for that. And they'll probably be even busier, come September.
So some double decks would be a good idea I think.

I believe current guidance is 1 passenger per pair of seats. So people can't next to you, but can sit on the row infront and behind.
In regards to the zig-zag seating as well. I suspect a lot don't have awareness of that. Maybe more some notices are needed to raise awareness.

Also if you can chose when to travel and don't need to be somewhere for a specific time, you can chose to avoid busy times. So you don't have kids sitting near you.

Most of the 55's I've seen this week are full at capacity, my question is where are the so called sweeper buses? No social distancing whatsoever. The 28's and 96's I've been catching too the last few days are filling up too. Its only the single deck routes I've seen that are struggling with the passengers and seem busier than most of the double deck services on this side of the city.

When I caught the 27 last week from Northfield to Yardley Wood the bus was filled and to the point most seats were taken. Why is there no sweeper buses on the single deck only services? Or even a temporary frequency increase on the every half hour services like the 96 so social distancing can be in practise. Running 'E' journeys on every other 28 to Dyas Road really isn't working as it still gets busy on the Hawthorn to Heartlands section.

Doesn't surprise me Birmingham could be having a local lockdown...

Wander if it would be possible to move it to BC and put deckers on it? As its moving to BC anyway soon it was said.
10 electrics into service at CV and then 10 double deckers from CV to BC for the 55 maybe?

I think the 55 will get anything at BC like the 14 and 97 currently get. But I think some E400's will transfer over.

Plenty ofvexaggeration there

A single decker 79 was definitely over capacity last week, it was about 11pm and I was standing next to the driver is was packed full. I did count but can't remember how many, it was certainly over the number on the max passenger poster.

What max passenger posters are they? I've never noticed one personally and I didn't see one on 4288 either yesterday?
I think Diamond have them as they have them displayed by the doors of the buses

At that time of night the driver couldn't really leave passengers behind

No it was the second from last 79 of the day. I wasn't bothered as it was a 5 min journey.
