I'm surprised they didn't renumber it 25 and X25.

There is already a 25 in Wolverhampton. It would be too confusing considering they cross each other.

It will only take an extra 4 mins so I don't think it will make that much of a difference.

When I originally looked, I thought that it was having to go right the way to the main roundabout, which gets congested at peak times and when the 994 used to do it, it seemed to take forever to get around there.

I see now that they've built a new road to the business park which the bus will be using.

It's alright, it can be added to the three in the wider Birmingham area as well. (I have a very bad sense of humour)

Via the Black Country Route?

Well, it says it's following the same route as the 529, but it seems daft it's not serving the Willenhall Dale stop.

The old 966, when it ran Wolves to Walsall then onwards to the Airport, only served The Dale on route.

I suppose it gives it the option of running either route, like the X70 does in the Bromford Bridge area.

I can foresee issues with people catching it & thinking it stops at Willenhall!

(Think I'll stick to the 326 to & from work personally, apart from some occasions, including when the 326 goes onto Saturday service over Xmas !)

I wonder if this will coincide with the withdrawal or scaling back of the 75 service. The X12 will continue to use double decks, so I presume there have been capacity concerns with the vehicles presently used on the 75.

If the schools reopen in September, I also presume more workers will be returning to work. I'm sure I saw something a while back about how BBP was one of these places encouraging workers to take up public transport or cycling to work.
No capacity issues - there are virtually no passengers at the moment although as you say there is likely to be a small uplift in September. Most passengers will still prefer the 75 over the X12 as it is more direct (omits the Airport)

Presumably it's registered as a flexible route then like the Bromford and Cov Road routes, that way it can run down the Black Country Route or Bilston Lane to The Keyway, can't particularly imagine traffic conditions would ever necessitate running through Willenhall Town centre instead but that'd be a third option.

Surprised its taken this long for them to capitalise on the lack of direct rail service. Seems a shame now the plan for a rail service is finally progressing
Now in exile in Oxfordshire....

Withdrawing the 80 doesn't make sense especially as there's other diversion on the route that aren't helping the reliability of it. I can see a few people in Smethwick complaining about losing a direct service from Devonshire Road to Capehill.

;
Confirms it is via the Black Country route.
;
despite the link stating the timetable can be found on Traveline it can't.

Given the wording, I would feel that it is just until Smethwick High Street is reopened both ways. At the moment, Devonshire Road has roadworks on it as well which ain't helping matters.

25, and 59 already exist locally
Looking forward to seeing how it goes, wonder if they will need more platinum buses for the frequency increase & the new service?

Looks like it's going to use a different route ie not via parkfield estate if Castle Brom timerley lane is timetable stop

Probably Water Orton Lane, left onto Green Lane, right onto Hurst Lane North then via 94 route.
