Does anyone know if these are going to be done via swift or will they be paperbased for years to come.

Liverpool Street

Its probably safe to assume all passes will be SMART, its merely a waiting game.

One thing Daimler Mercedes Benz are good at is producing excellent Diesel engines, I do miss the sound of the 0405n for all its faults you couldn't knock that 12 litre engine.

i prefer to pay cash for a pay ticket as i know when it expires.

When purchasing a season ticket on a smart-card I would imagine details such as first and last day of validity would be provided on a paper receipt (?)

Didn't WMT trial a credit card payment system in the early 90's? Something I read somewhere a while back. Apparently it didn't last long.

The 1 and 4 week NX Regional, Black Country and CoventryFaresaver travelcards are already available on SWIFT:

Note that the direct debit NX monthly cards are not yet available on SWIFT (which are cheaper), but I'm sure its only a matter of time before they are.

My locals:
2 - Birmingham to Maypole | 3 - Birmingham to Yardley Wood
11A/C - Birmingham Outer Circle | 27 - Yardley Wood to Frankley
76 - Solihull to Northfield | 169 - Solihull to Kings Heath

i don't think swift is for me, will there still be the option when you go to the newsagents to have the printed tickets for years to come, or will it be slowly phased out for e-ticketing.

I recently renewed an Nbus ticket and was told it will be have to changed to Swift soon. Recently while travelling on a 37 when the Revenue Squad got on a female opposite me quickly scratched off the day and month off a scratchy daysaver so I can see the point of making them etickets only!

The revenue seem powerless, every time they stop someone they just let them stroll away , after the initial "have you got any id?"

Yeh right! everybody just Walks away? That is why over £3/4million was paid in fines last year!

JoNi

The woman concerned was middle aged female who obviously did this sort of thing regularly. I've heard of it described as the annual daysaver. Smartcards that have "owners" help prevent fare evasion.

@BU07 LGO   Me, Nathan and Jack had ticket inspectors earlier and they took off around 3-5 people on the 900 at about 11.15! Granted I don't know what happened after but still.

IMO, more revenue teams are needed, for the few people that are caught, how many more get away with it!

Surely the money gained from fines could go into extra staff.
Pensnett is my local garage. Favourite bus of all time is Fleetline 6360 (KON 360P).

TBH that same thing can be said about a lot of public transport, Train and tube spring to mind, The best system is the metro IMO.
