Where are  all those people who keep posting NXWM 'don't want to operate outside the West Midlands' ?
Tony, can you please explain how this subsidy works? On the face of things it appears almost illegal that a competitive route can be introduced with a subsidy unless there is a restriction that passengers can only travel to i54.........or am I missing something?
Could you please explain.
They are not competitive routes, they are being introduced with funding to give I54 new transport links and were put out to tender, which NX won. I'm sure Arriva would have also submitted bids to operate them.

Winston,I realise they were put out to tender, and if only passengers to the i54 could use them I could understand, but if. Route from Wolverhampton to Stafford,or to Hednesford,is not competing with the incumbent operator then what is it?

Could I give a sum of money under tender to an operator to compete on say the outer circle would that not be illegal,if not, then why not.

When these services were put out to tender there was not a service from Hednesford/Cannock to i54 or from Stafford to i54. The tender was for services making those connections. NX have decided the easiest way to operate these services is by using buses getting to the i54  on the current 54 service. It is only since the tenders for these services that Arriva have changed the 76 to go via i54.

Arriva still don't operate a Monday to Friday service between Hednesford and Wolverhampton.

Are you saying that Centro shouldn't be able to put the 424 out to tender because there is already a bus service between Perry Barr and City?

Thanks Tony, your explanation does make it somewhat clearer, and if anything then I suppose that it is Arriva who are responding to circumstances rather than NX.
It will still be interesting though to see what happens to both operators when the funding ends.

I think you find the Soho Rd comes fully within the Centro area ;)

The NWM website also fails to mention the 4 going to Codsall (Says its just going to I54)

It also fails to say about the 79 route change (Just says minor timetable amendments)
