Saw it on Facebook.  I'm quite surprised actually.  If Diamond can't make it work, then I'm doubtful whether The Green Bus could.  Something interesting going on here...

It was route learning, not in service.

The destination blind became stuck

So was it route learning for Green Bus drivers?

Great to see The green Bus back operating local bus routes.

Stu

Diamond have announced they will continue to operate the 228:
https://www.diamondbuses.com/west-midlands/bus-services/228/

QuoteWe have now agreed with the local authorities concerned to extend the withdrawal date, however given that the service cannot be maintained in its current loss making position, unless a suitable funding agreement can be found the service will be cancelled in the coming weeks.

Presumably The Green Bus are ready to step in and take over this service soon then.
My locals:
2 - Birmingham to Maypole | 3 - Birmingham to Yardley Wood
11A/C - Birmingham Outer Circle | 27 - Yardley Wood to Frankley
76 - Solihull to Northfield | 169 - Solihull to Kings Heath

It'll be a fair bit of dead mileage from Hockley to Merry Hill/Kinver.

They run services dead to and from Wolverhampton and Walsall, so nothing major. Even more so in september with Stratford school services.

Kinver is within the Network NBus / Daytripper area but Network WM website says Green Bus doesn't accept them. If the 228 service is funded or part-funded by West MIdlands Combined Authority rather than just Staffordshire County Council, will Green Bus be mandated to accept the tickets?

Yes.  Select has to accept them during their time on the 50.

Service 242 will start from Monday and will run for 5 weeks during the summer holidays.

It will run between Kinver, Stourbridge and Merry Hill and will follow most of the 228 route, with a couple of changes. The route map and timetable will soon be up on our social media and I'll then post a link here.

We will be running a free service for the first two days (Monday 27 and Tuesday 28)
