Presumably the TCs have assumed they'll just not turn up if they insist on 56 days?

The cancellation application from Green Bus was received on 10 October, effective 5 December. Considering that Diamond were allowed to register their 62 effective 1 September by an application received 1 August, after having seen the Green Bus timetable and timing their service 2 minutes earlier, I would think that Green Bus would justifiably have a somewhat jaundiced view of the traffic commissioners.
In any case, the continuation of the Green Bus 62 even to 5 December has no public benefit.

Steppers may be kept as I believe their more fuel efficient so maybe that takes a higher priority than slf on private hire contracts

That's because their tridents are down in London doing underground replacement work

Over stretching their fleet again then, as per during the Commonwealth games.

Given that, I don't understand why they aren't retaining all the 51 plate Tridents and adding to the low floor fleet, maybe dispose of some of the older T-reg ex Metroline Tridents. It would give TGB greater flexibility to take on these contracts & still provide suitable buses to meet their local obligations.

One thing Daimler Mercedes Benz are good at is producing excellent Diesel engines, I do miss the sound of the 0405n for all its faults you couldn't knock that 12 litre engine.
