It's been quite a day for bus fires! I'm no expert, but I'd say arson is a very strong possibility here. (It'll probably be some kind of electrical fault now I've said that!)

The other pictures on the Birmingham Updates page show the bus has been very badly damaged.

Yes a unlucky day today -  a Stagecoach Trident was completely gutted on the M11 and according to the BBC travel website earlier there was a bus fire in Coventry as well.

And that is why the 6 is mainly OmniLink operation!

Couldn't agree more - they still have smoking issues with the single decks. A few weeks ago someone was blatantly smoking on the back row, and then someone lit up (whilst sitting in the middle of the bus - yes, not the back!) last week whilst travelling out on a 6; however his mates told him to quickly put it out otherwise the driver would be informed. I hope everyone was alright in this - although why did one of the refurbished ones have to catch fire  ::) Wonder if YW will need to loan in a bus?

Anyone have any info about bus on fire at the university in Coventry ??
Photo suggests it could be a NXWM bus but not in Coventry livery.

@JIM H it's a Stagecoach bus that went up in Coventry

Since the 2/3(/A) frequency was cut and tridents brought back, I've been secretly waiting for this to happen (bet your life it was on the 6 now I've said that)... Looks like an open top ALX400 now although if it was just top deck damage I'd have thought it was going to be repaired?

Express & Star report linked to above says it was a 6.

Went past just on my way home, the bus has been removed now (what was left of it anyway), bus shelter is badly damaged and is closed off.

11A/C - Birmingham Outer Circle | 27 - Yardley Wood to Frankley

I wouldn't be surprised if it was a 6 either, glad I don't have to use Stratford Road buses anymore. The more pictures I see though the worse it looks, the fire really took hold didn't it :(
