One thing Daimler Mercedes Benz are good at is producing excellent Diesel engines, I do miss the sound of the 0405n for all its faults you couldn't knock that 12 litre engine.

Give me an Enviro over a borismaster anyday...

No when i was in london a while back the enviros were horrid, roasting hot, too small and cramped with an interior that rattled and shook even on the new ones. The borismasters didnt do this and neither did geminis. Fact is london needed something iconic and that is what theyve got-something iconic, stylish, popular and very well built that supports British manufacturing. What more could you want?

I am allowed an opinion! I could go on for ages explaining why I prefer Enviros but would be completely off topic.

Back on topic, I wonder how long it will be before that borislump sees use again?

The superior Enviro comes out best, I see ;)

London enviros and enviros in general are horrid compared to borismasters which are better built, more fuel efficient, more spacious and better liked by passengers. They dont rattle half as much and actually look nice-I would say that a plaxton/wright bodied dart looks better than an e200, a president or east lancs myllenium or any gemini is looks nicer than an e400. Granted, the e400 is miles better than an alx400 but thats not really saying much. I think though with the e200 though theyve gone backwards.

Is that a wright electrocity I see damaged as well?

yes it is. From reports on another Group, its written off???

Thats a shame as theyre nice looking buses but I understand there were issues with the originals. Wouldnt this have been one recently given a new hybrid drive system by wrightbus. What happens when you have a bus written off like this thats on a contract for hybrids as another of these cant be bought. So does a secondhand bus arrive, a new hybrid, new diesel or do tfl look at options with the company affected. Just interested me thats all as to what happens

Thats an interesting question DD, and one i don't really know the answer to.  i did always think (Borismaster excepted) that the company winning the contract to provide the service provided the new buses. I presume they may well use the money from the insurance payout to source a new bus, although at the moment Go Ahead London who own WHY4 have spares buses around.
Pensnett is my local garage. Favourite bus of all time is Fleetline 6360 (KON 360P).

This one's a Trident Enviro though which makes it 10x better. The best buses in our fleet are the Trident Enviros. The Borismasters aren't really liked by passengers as they are cramped and have defective air conditioning and no opening windows.

Presidents are bland, Geminis are alright but Enviros are beautiful ;)

Better just stick to topic so we'll have to agree to disagree on that one but geminis seem better

Its actually hard to see in that photo the extent of the front end damage to the borismaster-surely if all the mechanics at the back are ok and its a new bus it will just go back to wrightbus and be repaired. Ultimately and perhaps unusually the decision rests with tfl as they own them and not with the operator. Theres a lot of smashed glass which in itself I would have thought being of an unusual design would cost a lot to replace but at least no ones lost their life here so thats the positive thing. Still an unpleasant experience though and I didnt say people werent allowed an opinion!! Quite the opposite

No worries Stu-thats what I would have thought but think these might be leased anyway? Certainly abellios were but probably a new bus on the way...

Wonder if its worth repairing?

Well when 2850 had a head on with lorry some time ago, the body split in half and was a right off.

It will obviously need a full overhaul by a top engineer to show what the true damage is. I'd bet it had done further damage then first obvious.

Wonder if its worth repairing?

More than likely, as its virtually brand new. The only thing that may sway it is if the chassis is badly damaged/buckled

Suppose it will go back to Wrights who will have a look at it and see whether it worth it, after they have finished rebuilding HV106 which had severe fire damage before it left Northern Ireland. May be more economic just to replace it with another one off the assembly line, althouh they won't be to keen on doing that as two more routes need Borismasters before the end of the year, the 9 and 390.

I reckon it could be 50:50 easily as to what happens, next, especially if axis/chassis are effected
