With the occasional Gemini

No geminis been on there since the CAZ started. AG have been very good with Allocations. Only time we have had to pay for a Gemini is outer Circle drivers being sent across city to get back on time

Will the 4 ever see an upgrade to DD operation?

I think the main issue is NXWM have quite a large young fleet of single deckers. To put double deckers on a single deck route, those single deckers need somewhere else to go.
I'd imagine within the next few years when 56 plate B7s and maybe early 57 plate Scanias start to go, that's when we may see more double decking of some routes.

56 plate B7RLE are euro 3 aren't they, so maybe they will go before the euro 6 57 plate scania?
Other thing I was wondering if Coventry are having 150 new buses, will some of these be single deckers and how many, looks be lots of 12/13 plate B7RLE there that would need somewhere else to go.

I'd guess about 34 B7RLE; 11 E200; 54 E400 and 20 Platinum by 2025 (I guess some, like the 47xx E400, may stay there until withdrawal) - I'm presuming the B7TL, Tridents and Geminis would be withdrawn. You could imagine the 17xx B7RLEs at Walsall being replaced and the earlier Scanias potentially, by these vehicles being cascaded. A large requirement for repainting though (around 30 a year).

Could Coventry have an all-double deck fleet in the future? Is there a requirement for Electric single deckers there. I suppose lots of new buses entering service at broadly the same time at the same garage - means 5 years later, lots of buses falling due for repaint at the same time.

Coventry has routes which go under low bridges so would need some singles at least.

Which ones have low bridges and how many single decks needed for those routes?
Are there any other depots except BC that doesn't have any routes that go under low bridges?

20B on Woodshires Road (12' 9" bridge) is the only actual one I can think of. The 17/1 are usually single decker but that may just be for capacity reasons. Some of the roads the 17 goes through in Hillfields are tight as well which may be playing a part.

There's also a 12' 3" bridge on the road out to Rugby (A428) but the 85 avoids that by going through Brinklow, although the 85 set is usually single decker as well (as is 539/580), but not the 585S.

Any more posts on this should probably be in the Cov garage thread.

I did see 6144 this evening on the 5 and yes, that's had its Outer Circle branding removed.
