I ask because I caught the 31 to Shirley, I got off there and caught the 5 to Solihull after popping into a shop as I was a few stops away from the town centre, I saw an outbound 5 with the same guy driving my 31 a bit earlier.

It does sound like interworking but for all I know he might have taken over a different bus as I didn't catch the fleet number or something else might have happened.

There is at least one diagram I know of where a bus off the 5 goes onto 31's. Sometime between 1830 and 1900 in Solihull.

When you say interworking, do you mean after every journey it swaps?

Monday to Friday there's a couple of 5 boards that leave from Acocks Green to either City or Solihull, then begin the 5 and one becomes a late night 31.

Not sure if it still happens, but there's a bus that comes off the 72 that goes onto the late night 31, although this may have changed.

There's also one 37 that terminates in Acocks Green village and runs dead to Robin Hood and becomes a late night 31.

If you have viewed the same Flickr pics as I have, the poster makes mention of 4100 being there as well, so potentially 4023/40/62/67/100 all gone from AG. Fire damaged 4255 appears to be withdrawn at MS too.
