Very few Volvo B9TL/AD E400s in the UK, 3 at London General, 5 at East Yorkshire and 1 was built and appeared in Arriva livery (SN56AWY) but no idea where that is, certainly not with any Arriva operator.  Dublin Bus have lots of B9/AD E400s, and I think some were built for Hong Kong.  Go South Coast have a B7TL with a E400 body which I think was a demonstrator.

SN56 AWY was never actually registered as such and seems to have disappeared into oblivion

I must admit I did not know that. Don't get to see Coventry buses that much tbh. Thanks for letting me know.

I took this quick shot of Volvo B7TL/ALX400 4419 inside Coventry garage during the Sept 2013 open-day & tour:

No rear-end grill next to the fleet number, but it still has the same curvy-edged rear lower glass panel.

Excellent photo, the Trident based ALX400 next to it really helps with the comparison. Plus there's a glimpse of a big ol diesel engine which always makes me happy...

Externally there are many differences in alx 400 b7tl, side on all the windows are of the same height, curved rear screen, the cooling vent next to destination display on the majority, side engine compartment doors different shape, internally cab is a major giveaway, lower saloon rear is different, upstairs two rows of seats in front of stairs. They tend to sound more muted than the trident counterparts, VOITH gearbox unmistakable on these buses.

How many of Acocks Green's buses are at the garage on a Sunday ?!

Sorry to forget BY when saying AG was the only depot with no ADLs. I think the easiest way to tell ALXs apart from a distance is the short window in the centre of the upper deck - it's much shorter on B7TLs. Earlier Tridents have a window behind the stairs on the offside lower deck, while B7TLs don't. But later Tridents don't either.

Why are Presidents allocated to the #73 route despite the emission rules in place ?!

Is the 73 half hourly? If that's the case then that's why. It's not frequent enough for the emissions rule.

Euro 2 emission rules don't apply to routes with a 30 minute frequency of less. The 73 is every 30 minutes so Presidents are fine
Class 153, 155 and 156. The Super Sprinters
"Around the corner" routes: 21, 89
Local routes: 12/A, 48/A
Semi-local routes: 54, 80, 87

Most used routes in bold

Thats quite convenient although the frequency appears to be more although the route is good as it helps alleviate the congestion with the 17

4519 is currently in Bearwood not in service because someone has broken the upper rear window

I've started noticing a 37 branded bus on the 72 for over a week now. Is their something wrong with the B7RLEs or is it just an unusual working and I'm at the right place at the right time ?!

Gareth

The 72 is always a mixture of Volvo and Scania. So a branded example from the 37 sometimes slips through.

MW

I think it's the Geminis on the 37, displacing the Scanias onto other routes.

Tony

The MD has confirmed today that AG is to receive 50 new Enviro 200 full length Single decks in Crimson livery to operate the 37, 71 & 72 routes
