4838 branded 21 on the 11/12 at tonight but not unusually. There always happen E400 branded 21 going on the 11/12 route in around evening and night.

1547 still inside the Coventry garage and awaiting for way to Miller St.

Mercedes withdrawals are so bittersweet for me, they are the first type of bus I can remember from new (I am only 17 after all). Yet I think they've certainly had their day. Had quite a few journey's on 1547.

I always noted that the fleet number for 1547 was in black and a different font to the rest. Any particular reason for this?

1547 may have gained it while at Wolverhampton a few years back

The 52-plate ZF Tridents at Coventry, 4405 - 4414, do they have 4-speed or 5-speed gearboxes?

I'm asking this as I know some older ZF Tridents have 4-speed gearboxes (such as the LN51's at First Worcester and the YN51's from Abellio), rather than the 5-speed gearboxes the ZF Tridents at BC and WN have.

5 speed ZF like WN's I believe :)

I got bored of waiting for an answer so went to Coventry to find out for myself!

I caught 4405 on the 6, never got up to fifth gear due to slow driving, but it dounds essentially identical to the 03s at BC.

Ashley

4405 is a tad slower than others anyway Matt. However 4405 - 4414 have the same ZF gearboxes that are in 4425 - 74, 4535 - 4564, 4585 - 4634

Cheers Ashley, that was what I expected

On another note, 1659 which I caught on the 5 is a very nice Merc

Ashley

1659 is one I do like als well

Sad to see 1547 going...I rather wish it were 1548/1552, which were noisy engines with worn out bodies.

Was outdated & didn't realise that 1552 had gone...it's time though.
And 1549 is another noisy Merc beside 1548.

1549 is withdrawn

Not entirely sure, but it would be a planning requirement, if University of Warwick wants to expand their site they must provide improved transport facilities. If you look back about 10 years ago would you have thought Walsgrave Hospital required a five bay bus station?,  Apparently five isn't enough because Lo and behold Walsgrave now intends to expand to about nine bays.
The main benefit for service 11/12 would be the removal of the confusing/awkward loop and journeys towards Coventry will be able to run via the Sports Centre and Security Office after departing the planned bus station [as long as two new bus stops are inserted in that direction of course].
