alightly off topic, but 508 used to be my least elusive bus.

When it used to work on the 247/8, more often than not if i needed to catch the service along would come 508. It looked really smart after being refurbished.

That's correct, 501-8 & 544 were all generally allocated to the 247/8 due to having larger capacity fuel tanks, as buses were known to run out of fuel on those routes if out all day/night

Yes was quite common around 7 to 8pm for the drivers of non long range B6s to get radio messages telling them there would be a replacement bus waiting at Russells Hall Hospital as they were low on fuel.

I swear i saw 601 parked up on the 62 about 11:30 this morning? Maybe my eyes were playing up as i saw it from a distance. Caught 508 on the last 62 from Finchfield

Both are easy to tell apart, 601 has an old style priority seat sticker in the centre of the window although it may have been a swap, I can only vouch for 2pm onwards
