Is 6946 for Private hire? I'm on it now and it has this additional red box. Is it a tachometer/ graph?

It is fitted, but  not sure what you can see as Tachometers aren't red

I was on 6944 on Sunday, and it had a tachograph fitted. It was located just below where the destination blind control was located, and it was black with a red screen. Was this what you saw on 6946 @mesub?

Tony

All of 6942-6951 have tachometers fitted

Yep that, my mistake. The WiFi for it doesn't work for it either

The Urban 2's are bland, boring and lifeless, not to say they are really unreliable.

You are entitled to your opinion on them being bland and boring, but they are some of the most reliable buses in the fleet and certainly not lifeless

MasterPlan

Have to say as much as I don't like them, they are more reliable than most.
Local Routes: 002, 39/39A, X21, 46, 76.
Localish Routes: 18, 23, X22.

I will agree with you that they aren't the most interesting for an enthusiast, but they are absolutely quality buses as Tony has said. In the West Midlands it's fairly difficult to judge different types of bus, no route is much more demanding in terms of terrain or speed than others (bar the higher speed sections on X1/X51 etc). Ride the 144 past Droitwich, the Cambridge Busway or most of Trent Bartons interurban routes and you can really experience the power they are able to unleash. After doing the 144 past Droitwich with a fast driver, I would dread to do it in a Streetlite or E200 now!

I will admit Diamonds Urban 2's are better than the NX examples. The 144 is boring now, I do miss the E300' and Tridents.
