- 69 Walsall to Wednesfield (for a hot pork butty :D)

More than likely the same stall Nath buys his from. In fact I remember him saying he thought he saw you at one point

I'll try a sandwich from that place sometime. I've got no excuse not to. I've heard from a few people that they're good.

Back to buses - a Trident free day is good.

Hey, the Tridents are the best buses in the fleet ;) particularly the 09-plates at Pensnett..

They're Enviros. 41**s are the best, IMO  :)
Class 153, 155 and 156. The Super Sprinters
"Around the corner" routes: 21, 89

I was waiting for someone to say that! Nope, they're ADL Tridents, with Enviro400 bodywork.

I would agree the 41**s are the best Voith Tridents though.

It was the ALX400 Tridents I was talking about. I'm sick of seeing them. The best ones avoid me too.

A round trip I used to do most Sundays when I has my free college bus pass was a 997 from by mine into Walsall, 529 to Wolverhampton, 254 or 255 to Merry Hill and a 138 into Birmingham, stopping in Merry Hill and Wolverhampton for some pics. (Those were my very early camera phone pictures!). Some times I would do it in reverse

After the 138, would you then do a 997 back home?

Yes Matt! Should have said that  :)

EDIT - The moment I hit "post" I realised this thread is actually on the NXWM board - any chance it can go on a more general board instead?

Had a nice round trip on Arriva's buses yesterday

51 - home to Walsall
x35 - 08:00 Walsall to Lichfield (an E200 full to the brim with schoolkids - not fun)
62 - 09:05 Lichfield to Cannock (yep - it's Arriva - some buses were bound to break down - quote from the driver to another driver "they know about it but still havent done anything")
60 - 09:10 Lichfield to Cannock (instead)
70 - 10:10 Cannock to Wolves (got off in the Scotlands and got the 11)
59 - Wolves to Wednesfield for a pork bap and ideally a Spectra - alas I just missed a B5 and had a Trident, saw lots of Spectra's going the other way - typical
68 - 11:50 Wednesfield - Great Wyrley
1 - 12:20 Great Wyrley - Walsall
35B - 13:05 Walsall - Lichfield (holy mother of god that route is insane - especially on a crappy dart)
112 - 14:18 Lichfield - Sutton (alas - the same dart - didn't think it would interwork - quote from the driver at the time "they knew about it at the depot - so why did they send it out in service" no idea what about)
110 - 14:51 Sutton - Tamworth (of all the B5's and Mercs I get a bloody Omnilink)
115 - 15:30 more like 4pm by the time it left Tamworth - Coleshill
90 - (gave up on times, they all went to pot by this point) Coleshill - Chelmsley Wood
14 - (driven by our esteemed Tony) Chelmsley Wood - City
110 - 18:25 City - Erdington
--> pub

BU07 LGO

One I did today starting in pheasey

936 - 4884 to town
61 - 4368 to northfield
49 - 4357 to maypole
27 - 1413 to kings Heath
11a - 40xx to erdington
28 - 17xx to hawthorn
33 - 4849 to pheasey

Kevin

My plan for tomorrow (with a couple of non enthusiast friends)...

Go to Wetherspoons at Perry Barr for breakfast
Get 11C to another pub, have a drink
Get 11C to another pub, have a drink
Get 11C to another pub, have a drink
...repeat until arrival back in Perry Barr, possibly a little bit intoxicated by the end of it

One thing Daimler Mercedes Benz are good at is producing excellent Diesel engines, I do miss the sound of the 0405n for all its faults you couldn't knock that 12 litre engine.

I'm sure we've covered this in another thread here before, but some places I can recommend you stop off at on your travels:
- Inn On The Green, Westley Road, Acocks Green (might turn out nice tomorrow, so sit outside and spot a few buses while you're at it!)
- The York, Fox Hollies Road, Hall Green
- The Red Lion, Vicarage Road, Kings Heath
- The Old House At Home, Lordswood Road, Harborne
- The Bear Tavern, Bearwood Road, Bearwood
My locals:
2 - Birmingham to Maypole | 3 - Birmingham to Yardley Wood
11A/C - Birmingham Outer Circle | 27 - Yardley Wood to Frankley
76 - Solihull to Northfield | 169 - Solihull to Kings Heath

I'm planning to do a "Birmingham Outer Outer Circle" adventure at some point, possibly next Saturday, should comprise of...

002 home - Bartley Green
18 Bartley Green - Northfield
27 Northfield - West Heath
49 West Heath - Shirley
5 Shirley - Solihull
966 Solihull - Buckland End
71 Buckland End - Sutton Coldfield
6 Sutton Coldfield - Aldridge
936 Aldridge to Brownhills
33 Brownhills to Pelsall
89 Pelsall to Wednesfield
25/25A Wednesfield to Wobaston
6 Wobaston to Hordern Rd
62/62A Hordern Rd to Tettenhall Rd
1 Tettenhall Rd - Chapel Ash
4 Chapel Ash - Penn
255 Penn - Kingswinford
256/257 Kingswinford - Stourbridge
142 Stourbridge - Halesowen
9/241/002 Halesowen - home

It should take 10-11 hours, I am trying to avoid Walsall/Wolverhampton centres and staying as close to the edge of the county as I can, hence all the messing around up there.

Kevin

Well good luck with it kid, I tried similar things while desperately avoiding doing uni work at uni, can't remember it exactly but I remember it involved the 196 (?) to Balsall Common, 192 to Cov and the 900 back... failed spectacularly as was inevitable thanks to late running buses and traffic

If you get 2107 on the 71 Matt just keep an eye on its ticket printer because the last time I got 2107 it printed several tickets without the driver pressing any key on the machine at all its done it twice so far :)
