What is the point of route branding ?

This week I've seen
branded 33 on 67.
     " "    X61 on X1
     " "    X12 on 1
    " "     X12 on 37
    " "    X3-5 on X14
    " "     X12 on 11A

so what is the point of route branding ?

Some people will state it's a form of advertising, which I can accept for occasional appearances, but for so many to not be on route it seems rather pointless

Platinum MMC workings could get very interesting once the new hybrid ones are out on the road
Class 153, 155 and 156. The Super Sprinters

Local routes: 12/A, 48/A

The 37 Brandeds on the 58 and 73 (Saturdays) are always on them. Quite tedious and annoying.

Branding is something that isn't taken seriously at AG by the engineers. It winds them up having to dedicate certain buses only for one route. If there's only one MMC available and it's 37 branded, should they find an unbranded one and go and swap it or just send the branded one out which is more productive.

With routes like the 11 & X12, it's different, because they want as many Euro 3 vehicles as they can get out of garage on the 11, and the X12 because it's literally only that route the Platinums are for.

And yet they still appear everywhere else with Geminis on instead

There's not enough Platinums at AG. If one is defective in the morning at 6AM, a Gemini will be sent out instead. By 8AM it may be fixed. That Platinum will most likely end up on a non Platinum route. That's how it works.
