Vehicle swops between routes

I wondered how often buses get switched between routes during the day.

For example, today in West Bromwich at about 11 a.m. Merc 1697 arrived driven by an engineer from depot who then took an ALX400 off the 80 and headed back towards depot. Then Gemini 4521 came in as a 5 and was switched to route 80 and 1697 took up duties on 5.

Has anybody else had expereince of such changes?

I have seen this a few times.

Last week i saw 2009 on another route (possibly the 2) around 17:30 and then a few hours later my friend matt (Nitromatt1) caught it on the 59.

WB obviously knew that you couldn't use 1697 on the 80 because of emission zone, so a double change was required. Presumably 1697 was the only spare bus that WB had.
Pensnett is my local garage. Favourite bus of all time is Fleetline 6360 (KON 360P).

2098 was on an unusual working of the 276 this morning, but when I rode it this evening, it had been switched onto another unusual working of the 243/4!

Thats a bit of an odd swap there from the 276 to the 243/4- thought it might have stayed on for the rest of the day. These days there seems to be 1 maybe 2 B7RLE on the 276 most days excluding Sunday when every journey has one.

Ex pensnett driver

243/244 are on 276 running boards on an evening

WB's mercs are allowed in town aren't they? Or are only some of them allowed like diamond's MPD'S

How does this emissions rule work? PE put 1521 on the 120 the other day

There have been mercs on the 276 for the past few sundays.

Certainly Bank Holiday Monday there were a few mercs about but the last two sundays ive seen all B7RLE's but I might have missed any Mercs.

As I understand it, it was supposed to be similar to the Congestion zone in London, where cameras would be set up on all entrances to the emission zone, with operators receiving a fixed penalty for using non-compliant vehicles from B'ham City Council, whether that is now in operation, I'm not sure...

Well regarding diamond I think the bus that comes of their 67 service (Yew Tree to Wednesbury) then works a peak time 56 service as most of the times the 67 is either a solo or mpd it's ideal with the emission ruling even if it is too small for the 56 service although it works along with the centro's that have been on the 56 all day.
