I assume recent transfers to PL 4619, 4633 and 4634 are now fitted with Euro 6 engines?
Brand new engines - or retro fitted exhausts?

No, It is because they are not euro 6 they have been moved out of an area where they cost £50 per day to operate

Thanks Tony.

You mentioned in the Walsall Garage thread these were up for a Euro 6 upgrade.

[4633] is in the garage and will be back on the road soon. It has just had a replacement engine fitted
So I presumed this may have been the planned Euro 6 upgrade - but just an like for like engine swap?

Does this mean it looks increasingly likely that NXWM will not be compliant when all journeys into Wolverhampton AQPS require Euro 6 emission standards from 24th April 2022? PL needs around 44 Euro 6 deckers for NXWM to be compliant - if current level of service is to be maintained.

You cannot put a euro 6 engine in an older bus, they physically don't fit. The plan was for those three to have exhausts fitted, but because of their different engines they couldn't have standard trident kits fitted which is why they initially stayed at BC

Yes it does look like the euro 6 deadline will be missed, same as Solihull and Coventry which should also be 100% euro 6 now. It was drawn up before Covid happened which has delayed everything by two years, NX always plan on 100 new buses a year which they were unable to do for the last two years, they had planned to be completely euro 6 by the end of 2020 well ahead of all the deadlines. TfWM are aware of the situation.

I saw 4456 being driven to Miller Street at approx 1400 this afternoon - is this just where buses are stored or is there potential for it to re-enter service at some point?

For a 4400 it was a good bus so it will be stripped of major units before being sold.

4464 has been withdrawn from Coventry (engine problems), but is currently on the back of a tow truck to Wolverhampton to see if it is worth fixing to replace 4310 which unfortunately has been found to not have enough chassis left to be worth putting through another MoT

Would I be correct in thinking an engine swap might be in order?

The press quote about 130 buses early next year was a bit misleading, that is when they hope to have all 130 in service, the first ones are already on the production line at falkirk
