I thought 2451 was one of Coventry's batch of 18 (2451-2468). What fleet number does your list go to - 2646, 2647, 2777, 2778 and 2841 seem to have been allocated to Oldbury - 2841 was definitely there - it was parked on the garage front having just been delivered when I went to a meeting there - in fact it was remarked on in the meeting that the powers that be had seen fit to give Oldbury a new bus!! The garage closed in 1985 - not long after.

New to Oldbury I have 2619-2621, 2646/7, 2777/8, 2817/8, 2841

By March 84 2441-2445 had moved to OY from WB

OY closed 1/26/1986 the Metrobuses moved to:
2441 > WA, 2442-5 > CL, 2619 > DY, 2620/1 > WB, 2646/7, 2777/8, 2817/8 > PL, 2841 > WB

In 1983 2436-45 were allocated to West Brom and 2446-51 to Stourbridge. At that time, Oldbury are not showing any Metrobuses at all.

I'll get me coat then.

6557/58 - which replaced two ex Midland Red Fleetlines which had collided head on

I never knew that, which were the unfortunate lovely Alexander-bodied 6xxx Fleetlines?
Don't you start.

4920 PB - WB

Thanks Tony - a slow trickle to WB then!

On the Metrobuses, that's a very comprehensive listing, thanks I was surprised by 2469-2488 as I had thought 2478-2488 were LH, and 2469-2477 were split between CE and QN. Also 2619-2621 at OY (I thought they were at WB originally. As with modern day deliveries there may have been some initial loans for driver familiarisation or other reasons - I've certainly seen a picture of 2469 on the 82 new (QN).

The ex MR Fleetlines were 6021 and 6269 - collided head on mid 1978, at Brandhall I think. The vehicles were parked on the front next to the road at QN for some time.

2469-88 definitely started at Cotteridge, 2474-88 were replaced by 2536-40 and 2561-70 soon afterwards.

Metrobuses were being delivered fitted with tachographs but a decision was taken to discontinue them so tacho-fitted vehicles were distributed around the garages. CE's all had tachos so 15 of the 20 were exchanged. Hence CE kept 2469-73 but 2536-40, intended for CR, were swapped with 2474-8. 2561-70, intended for LH, were swapped for  2479-88.

Apologies for continuing with this off-topic (for current transfers) discussion but it's interesting. Over 30 years ago I'd wondered why on earth there were seemingly random transfers of nearly new like for like buses between garages - so thanks for that Stevo.

Incidentally, 2536-40 were originally intended for QN and at least some were initially delivered there.
