I just like continuous blocks of numbers ;)

I do to, just a shame with the Mercs that CV had odd buses, means that you can't create continuous blocks without repaints!
Pensnett is my local garage. Favourite bus of all time is Fleetline 6360 (KON 360P).

Hopefully the 2 other Mercs Pensnett get will be 1628 and 1632 from WB.

Yes thats correct.

It looks like I may have got something right for a change (apart from the PE bit) !

My own opinion is that the Spectra's will be withdrawn from Wolverhampton and will not transfer elsewhere .

If that happens in 2013, then it means a straight swap of 21 hybrids for 21 Spectra's.

However, I think that they've got another year or two in them and the scenario may be as follows.  WN receive 21 hybrids and retain 21 Spectras.  All of the 41xx and 43xx Tridents at Wolverhampton are transferred to other depots.  This means 13 Tridents are transferred to increase double deck operation in other areas (possibly PE).  WN would have a net increase of 8 double deckers, which they need given the number of single deckers spotted on double deck routes recently.

Hopefully, this will mean that the unusual sightings of single deckers on routes such as the 1, 59, 79, 126, 255, 256 and 529 will happen far less than they do now.

It will be interesting to see who gets which Tridents if NXWM keep the allocations in blocks.  4135, 4305-12, 4320-21, 4384-85 are due to be transferred.  I would guess that 4384 and 4385 will go directly to YW, but the others would more logically go to BC.  Is it possible that some of the later 43xx Tridents go from BC to YW as part of the transferwhen BC receive Tridents from WN?

4597-4605 are due to be branded for the 529.

I should imagine with 48 x Volvo B7RLE & 21 x Hybrids (all less than 18 months old) & with the full 75 x 53/04/54 Plate Tridents set to remain, once the Hybrids are all delivered, WN will be near the top of the list of garages with the youngest average age

According to my spreadsheet figures, WN is currently 7th in the table.  My figures for average age at the end of January are
BY 5.19 years, WA 7.00, BC 7.44, AG 7.94, PE 8.20, PB 8.37, WN 8.83, YW 9.15, CV 9.98 and (last as expected) WB 11.06.

If you withdraw all of the WN Solos and Excels, transfer out the 15xx Mercs and 41xx and 43xx Tridents, and transfer in the 21 brand-new hybrids, WN moves up to 3rd between WA and BC with an average age of  7.33 years.

It will get them to around 7 years and 9 months old on average, depending on which vehicles move. Which is the 3rd youngest fleet behind Bordesley and Walsall.

Thanks Pete, thought so. WN must be contributing a decent chunk to profits since the Network Review to warrant the investment

Ashley

There does seem to have been an increase in passenger numbers in Wolves since our review, be nice to see a decker now and again on roues like the 3

That's quite possibly true, owing to the fact that routes like the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 that were changed in the review have all benefited from new buses and from my experience driving them all they are busier than ever now especially the 6!

Excels are being withdrawn.

Excels are being withdrawn.

Interesting - presumably from the B6LE cascade? Do you know if there'll be a 'last day' wake/celebration for them or have they already stopped?

BN,

Do things frequently change on a daily basis? it does make sense to withdraw the last of the Excels given that WN now has allocation of B6LE, may as well increase the size of that allocation & eliminate a vehicle type / reduce number of types of spares carried from WN

Probably won't get another new bus for 20 years after that!
