Ironic when the drivers pay goes up they want to put the fares up!
I get where you're coming from but I just want to offer a bit of perspective from the driver's seat.

The recent pay rise isn't about getting rich, it's about making a fair living for a job that carries a lot of responsibility.

Also, fare changes are usually decided by management based on a mix of rising fuel, maintenance, and operating costs,  not just drivers wages. Drivers don't set the fares, and many of us want the service to be affordable too.

more likely the fare increase is in anticipation of franchising, the politicians wont want to have the increase just after they take charge

We've been getting two increases a year, by the time franchising starts, it'll be higher again, and they'll probably put it up again themselves to pay for it. And then freeze it for a year to show how good they are.

Not as such. The operators meet with TfWM and agree a fare increase but the intention to increase fares comes from the operators. When franchising comes in only then TfWM will set the fares.  Thats how I understand it wotks.

If not for the £3 fare cap, what would've been the single fare?

Or lower it for when franchising starts, to show "how good it is"
Your new favourite 61/63 late night driver 😂

Funny how all the press releases about the fare rise all show just Nxwm buses again

Mr parker has committed on the change

Dont the mayor run TFWM who sets the fares so dont he have the power to stop them rising

No. Fares are set by the operators, essentially NXWM and Diamond who are the biggest operators in the TfWM area.  Only when franchising comes in will fares (and all routes) in the TfWM area be set by WMCA.

The increase is 'agreed with WMCA' at the moment

But that doesn't mean that WMCA (or the mayor) actually set the fares as was implied.
