even the people of birmingham can read a bus display when it works, route branded buses off route is a gd example, sometimes lasts the entire day partly becoz no driver has complained that passengers r getting confused (doubt manager would care anyway)

for example erdington to perry barr section of the 11 you dont see crackheads arguing with the driver too often, still a "shit route" as the driver said. so on a "shit route" ppl can still read the dests

Quote from: Steve3229vp on April 26, 2025, 10:09:40 AMThe new revised 936, 937, 997 and 998 will also be serving Perry Barr One Stop and will be using stop PD currently used by the 33 and 907, that's an extra 8 buses an hour (10-12 in peaks) using this stop.
This might mean the 907 could move to the 52 stop.
I can't see the 33 moving to a different stop because of 33/936/937 serving Kingstanding Road and 33/997/998 serving Pheasey.
The 907 can't really move into those stops as it would make the manoeuvre over to the A452 lanes even more dangerous than it already is.

Should also be noted this is a relief point for the 907 and 33 which adds further complications to having all these extra departures on this stop. Logic dictates it can't work but that didn't stop them in the city centre.

New timetable for services 15,  16 & 16A now published on the TfWM website. Service 16 will run every 20 minutes Mon-Fri but continue to run every 30 minutes on Saturday as now.  Service 16 will run as per current 16 route via Common Road but then turn down Giggety Lane to Brickbridge Lane and will then serve Brickbridge Lane and Bridgnorth Road before resuming its current route to Stourbridge at the junction with Swindon Road.

Evening and Sunday service 16A will follow the current 15 route as far as Wombourne ambulance station where it will terminate. The service will return to Wolverhampton via Giggety Lane and Common Road.

15  Merry Hill to Wombourne via Himley (Mon-Sat daytimes) every 30 minutes. In Wombourne village (or town as it says wrongly on the timetable) this will be rerouted from Bridgnorth Road via Common Road and Giggety Lane to rejoin the current route and run along Planks Lane to St Benedict's Church.  It will return the same route.

Sunday and evening journeys will terminate at Wall Heath and run hourly.  This means Himley and part of Wombourne will lose its late evening and Sunday buses.

Not ideal for Himley losing the late buses but for most of the missing parts of the route it isn't that far a walk, a mile or less, (excepting those who find this difficult obviously) to the 16 which will still run.

Yep. There are alternative stops on the bit of Common Road which won't be served either on Bridgnorth Road or Giggety Lane which are fairly close by.  Only time will tell whether these changes work and how passengers react.

I'm going to assume that these changes are being done to try and keep the services commercially viable, and if so these decisions have been made with current passenger loadings taken into consideration.

Didn't Himley moan last time they tried to do a major change?

Yep and I have no doubt people will moan again.

Well they need to get onto Staffordshire council to subsidise the services if required, as the two areas fall outside the West Midlands. Same with Codsall. Perton is the outlier by still having their service maintained. I remember going through the bus gates at Perton on Choice Travel's 888 when that ran. I didn't realise it fell outside the West Midlands area.

The services are already partly subsidised, hence Carolean winning the tender for the evening and Sunday journeys on the 15 but which they decided not to do.

It's always the same, an unpopular decision gets made, then there'll be some petition that gets hundreds of signatures.

I recall a few years ago now, some change was made (or proposed) by NX in Old Hill, where some service was being changed or withdrawn due to 'lack of use'. There was some petition that got loads of signatures, then the service got reinstated. Then I'm sure about 12 months later it was finally removed/withdrawn due to 'lack of use'.

As the old saying goes, "use it or lose it". And it's always the same, the numbers who sign the petitions never match the passengers who use the service!
