I found that from May 1973, doesn't look like the area was served other than from the a41?

The 47 is terminating at Coombes Lane on all those maps, within the West Midlands boundary.

The only buses seen going all the way down Groveley Lane are the 145 or 945 (briefly) or the 45A (briefly).

Midland Red 145 (and its short working 146, Birmingham - Rednal island) was the route serving Cofton Hackett before 1986.

However, "Cofton Hackett" appeared on blinds of buses from several Birmingham City Transport and WMPTE garages (plus a few TWM ones) as many Longbridge works services ran to and from Cofton Hackett.  Being there at 5 pm was a joy to behold, as there were many independents services as well to places further afield such as the Black Country, Bromsgrove and Redditch.

The Wergs: don't forget that Midland Red Wolverhampton - Telford - Shrewsbury services passed through there as well.  After 1973 it was entirely Midland Red (running hourly in the early 1980s), then Midland Red North and Arriva until 2016.

Shearings also had a few journeys serving the Wergs on their 893 service.

Quote from: SO6597 on April 18, 2025, 01:20:34 PMI remember when the South Bham review took place back in 2018, there were multiple options put forward to serve Cofton Hackett as the new housing developments neared completion. They clearly haven't generated the kind of passenger potential that was hoped for.

Although hourly, the 20A operates from very early in the morning to very late at night so there must be some kind of demand there, it will be interesting to see if links are maintained.
As a regular user of the 20A, it's mostly empty coming off Cofton Hackett at most times of the day and returning from QE most people alight along the Lickey Road.

I hope the link is maintained however for those who need it to access Northfield, Selly Oak and QE.
Local routes: 19/20/20A/27/39/39A/49/55/63/145/202

According to a comment on facebook, the 16A will follow part of the 15 route (via Himley) but presumably serving Common Road like the 16. This will operate on eves and Sundays when the 15 will be terminating in Wall Heath. In other words the 16A would follow the old 16/256 route between Wolves and Wall Heath.

Some timetables from 1st June now on tfwm. Including 48, 76, X21, X22, X2.

Looking like the 48 will no longer serve the main entrance of the QE and just Uni Station in both directions.

Also a lot of the extra peak frequencies on X21/X22 have gone, especially PM which is now strictly every 20 mins each.

No X20 timetable yet.
Local Routes: 002, 39/39A, X21, 46, 76.
Localish Routes: 18, 23, X22.

If the timetable for the X21/X22 is correct then it is clear that the NEW X20 will not be providing an intergrated frequency will them, so will the route from City to University be different ?
If the 48 isn't serving the Hospital it is no big surprise, it cost too much time which why is when the X20/X21/X22 were introduced the didn't serve it either because it was costing too much time on the 98/X64 routes that they replaced.

Seems a bit weird though, given the X21/X22 are having another slight frequency increase from this Sunday only for most of the increases from the last 2 years wiped out a month later.

It could be that the resources from that reduction is used for the X20

Big changes for 934, 935, 936, 937, 937A and 997

I've just looked at the TfWM for new timetables starting 1st June, 2025 and this is what I found:

934, 935 both withdrawn.
936 to run all day replacing 934 to Walsall and serving Frampton Way, every 30 mins Mon to Sat, every 20 minutes in peaks and hourly evenings and Sunday
937 will now serve Rough Road and George Frederick Road, every 30 mins Mon to Sat, every 20 minutes in peaks and hourly evening and Sundays.

936/937 every 15 mins to Kingstanding, every 10 mins in peaks.

997 Frampton Way no longer served.
998 NEW replacing 997 shorts but also not serving Frampton Way, then Hundred Acre to Hardwick Arms.

Frequency similar to the present 997 timetable.
