Thunderbirds and Joe 90 are on the case
Also the Easter bunny has now joined in
Meanwhile in the Black Country our bins are emptied every week
Peggy's oss shines beautifully in the sun on her island on the DnS

Quote from: Jack on April 18, 2025, 11:18:04 PMDoes it make much difference? I think most passengers will know the station either way you call it, it's the only Galton Bridge Station in the Midlands... Pedantic aren't you?
It should have been programmed correctly

It is! No different to using "Moor Street " or "New Street". In London the buses say Euston Station or Waterloo Station etc

But why are NX shortening names? Is this another way of saving a penny or two?

Well for one thing 3 words is far easier to catch to listen to than 4, and you don't want people hearing the word 'Smethwick' and thinking they are in the centre of the town. You'd be fed up if you hadn't got anything to complain about

there are several next stop announcements on the 9 between Stourbridge and Birmingham that are now completely different names to that on the the bus stop flag

With the 11A, it now says "11A, To, Acocks Green anticlockwise"

Most people will who get the Route will know that Galton Bridge is in Smethwick it's actually quite famous outside of the area to as it was where the Smethwick engine was or is located, if it isn't there anymore i believe it is in the Science Museum in Birmingham, it was a key part of the Black Country/Birmingham's industrial Hertiage.

My question is and it has been a while since I caught the 79 to find out or when I have the NSA's weren't set up yet or it was a hybrid is in Darlaston the bus stops twice first after it comes in from Pinfold Street at the 34 to Bilston stop. It never used to do this it used to go past it and then pull into the 79 stops by Asda. But then it goes around the island and stops by Asda, on all the flags it is caused Darlaston Bus Station so would it Announce the stop before the island as the bus station with the idea you could get of and change onto a local bus and have the Walsall services on the opposite side and then call the stop by Asda Darlaston Asda or would it just say Darlaston Bus Station once maybe repeat it once or twice as the bus hasn't actually left Darlaston Bus Station yet. Most people get off by the flats and cross over to get to Asda or wait for the local bus, so I'm not sure what NX would programme it to say

It's a thing called being 'concise' or 'short and to the point'. Nothing to do with saving a penny or two, not now the announcements are being generated using 'text-to-speech' software.

It may have escaped your notice, but @Tony actually works for NX Bus, and therefore is in a good position to address some of the unsubstantiated claims that are made against his employers.

But equally, being as this is a public forum, it is likely that he might not express any negative opinions he may have towards his employers publicly.
My locals:
2 - Birmingham to Maypole | 3 - Birmingham to Yardley Wood
11A/C - Birmingham Outer Circle | 27 - Yardley Wood to Frankley
76 - Solihull to Northfield | 169 - Solihull to Kings Heath

There's a couple on the BC14 where the announcement doesnt match the flag name. And neither are accurate for the actual location!

the omnilinks got ages, there are still plenty of B7TLs n Tridents and they dont seem to have a replacement single deck vehicle. for example the WA4 PBX64 YW27 all rely on single decks so unless they find electrics they aint going anywhere.

i wouldnt be suprised if the 4900s have the abillity for NSAs but never got them
