I saw it with my eyes the fire however didn't see the number so I apologies for getting fleet number wrong, I did look at bus times when I finished driving.

Unfunny joke Liam, The bus involved was 1842 anyways

Quote from: Wba_lad on February 27, 2025, 04:15:59 PMI assume being as the Scanias are slowly being withdrawn that 1845 will now be finished from what I've just saw passing through bilston. This to me looked like arson as wasn't exactly coming from the engine bay but was at the back of the bus.
1845 is very much alive and well - I would assume, from looking at BusTimes, that it got trapped near the scene of the incident, but it seems they managed to turn it round and its diverting round to Bilston bus station to resume on the 34.

There needs to be a big strong rule against arsonists

No I didn't see the number I saw the bus I was driving so didn't pay attention to the number.

It was 1842, 1845 has been on the 34/39 should be doing the 18:40 39 as it's final journey it became stuck around 2/3PM. 1842 is definitely the one involved as 1845 was on the 39 but in the opposite direction to 1842 which was set on fire at the Moxley/Darlaston bound stop in Bilston as that stop has a lay by the one opposite doesn't

I'm guessing they won't be caught whoever it was

Well the CCTV will be ruined and unless there is like a Hard Drive or a Disk they can remove from the Drivers Cab if it is still intact and run through a Computer to see if they can identify them, as there was a 79 not far behind they may be able to use it's Front CCTV, Dashcam to see if that person/s was indeed seen leaving the scene, ultimately Passengers on-board saw it, as they told someone, Bilston is quite small and where the bus actually caught fire was opposite the Police Station, If the passengers have a description of who did it won't take long to find them

I might be wrong, but I believe the CCTV is monitored and recorded remotely now.

I did wonder why On the E200's and Omnilink's the CCTV Montiors aren't showing anything anymore, most of the DD's still do.

Looking at photos after the fire of 1842, The Engine, Gearbox, Front Destination Board, Front Headlights and Panels, Back Brake Lights, Wheels, Suspension and Brakes should all be salvageable, Not sure about anything in the Cab due to the Smoke or Windscreen. Might be enough parts to get another Omnilink back on the road
